To all atheists! Faith in God as myth is still theism?

I ask this because it seems to be very different take on it.

Some atheists tells me that only a supernatural god
makes you into a proper correct theist believer.

To them a mythic God would be atheism and fake or false god.
Same with Fundy Christians them see mythic God as false god?

I trust that all claims about God are a kind of myth or metaphor.
I trust that God make himself known if one open ones heart to God.

In that way God is something very natural like music or other art.
God is something the believer do. God becomes what the believer do
the acts of faith establish God as a known personal God in the public arena.

When a believer express their faith in God they make God known
they witness of what they have in their heart. That is to tell their story
of what God is to them personally they retell their live relation with God.

God exists as long as believers do acts of faith
in the name of their personal God.

That explains why we have some 6000 dead gods due to none act on their behalf
in their name.

That explains why Jesus say one have to it in his name.
Go out and baptize in my name ...

Would not a lot of you atheists see a mythic God as a kind of pretend god?
Even a fake or false god?

I want to know I talked to many atheist and they don't seem to agree.

Maybe I need to explain the supernatural thing about God too.
God is by definition supernatural. Almost all believers and atheists
seems to agree upon that. What they maybe differ is what it means.

I claim that it is most likely that God is only supernatural by definition
based on the dogma and doctrine the agreement at Nicaea and such
Council agreement. Church decided on what it means to the Church.

But in reality God only makes himself known in the heart of the believer
and in the acts of the believer in the name of that particular God.

the supernatural claim is the dogma one are asked to believe in
and not something verifiable out in reality. God is in the heart.

Pretending that a God exists is the essence of faith.

It's also the only path to honesty for any sincere spiritual person.

Truth is always the best policy I say. O:)

You can't beat truth. ;)

I don't think they pretend at all.
They do a kind of leap of faith.

I trust it has to use same circuit
in the brain that allow us to trust
in any person we get to know.

I also think it works similar to trust
in a political ideology. They behave
very similar in how they hold on to
that ideology and religion and politics
seems to be related.

The word myth is maybe used in a
misleading way in my thread due to
me not good at such thinking.

I trust it is more like how Political Correctness (PC)
works as a belief for those that commit to that norm.

Those who commit to PC are also very
much into it and really believe in it.

They don't pretend to have that view.
it is so similar that they also use Taboo
and herecy and altruistic punishment
and they are activistic in same way
as religious true believers are.

It is taboo to use the term Political Correctness
if one are a true believer in it. They use that
as a sign of the enemy. Religious groups have
similar rhetoric tricks to know who is with them
and who is not with them. Code words one have
to learn for to go along with them and not to be
seen as enemy. The Atheism Plus Forum is a good
example of this phenomena you have to learn the codes
of behavior first or else you get punished by them.

So long as they consider this god to be an existing and active god then I would say yes, still theists. I've seen another one of your posts on gods being man made and I also still consider that theism for that same reason.

Theism/atheism ONLY addresses wether or not you believe in a god or rather, accecpt/do not accept claims about god(s). So much baggage is put on terms like theist or agnostic that it becomes to hard to accept such labels to describe one self.

If you believe in a god or gods, and this god is believed to actually exist, that is theism. Even if it doesn't exist in our world and follow the model of say the christian god or muslim god, and its just a thought based god, I still say theism.
