If not, then why name the religion of Moses as Judaism or its followers as Jews, please?

I first quote from the link provided by one:
Jew (word)
Page issues
This article is about the English word Jew. For the Jewish people, see Jews.
Look up Jew in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.
The term Jew passed into the English language from the Greek Ioudaios and Latin Iudaeus, from which the Old French giu was derived after dropping the letter "d", and later after a variety of forms found in early English (from about the year 1000) such as: Iudea, Gyu, Giu, Iuu, Iuw, Iew developed into the English word “Jew. It thus ultimately originates in the Biblical Hebrew word Yehudi meaning "from the Tribe of Judah", "from the Kingdom of Judah", or "Jew". The Jewish ethnonym in Hebrew is יהודי‎, Yehudim (plural of יהודי‎, Yehudi).

Rev: Five lines of ancient Hebrew script; reading "Yehochanan Kohen Gadol, Chever Hayehudim" (Yehochanan the High Priest, Council of the Jews.

Yehudi in the Hebrew Bible Edit
According to the Book of Genesis, Judah (יְהוּדָה‎, Yehudah) was the name of the fourth son of the patriarch Jacob. During the Exodus, the name was given to the Tribe of Judah, descended from the patriarch Judah. After the conquest and settlement of the land of Canaan, Judah also referred to the territory allocated to the tribe. After the splitting of the united Kingdom of Israel, the name was used for the southern kingdom of Judah. The kingdom now encompassed the tribes of Judah, Benjamin and Simeon, along with some of the cities of the Levites. With the destruction of the northern kingdom of Israel (Samaria), the kingdom of Judah became the sole Jewish state and the term y'hudi (יהודי‎) was applied to all Israelites.

The reason for the confusion is based on centuries or millennia of deception and lies about God and about the Bible, and even if some of the confusion were honest mistakes then with a little effort then the mistake could have been discovered and corrected - but no.

The very first place in the Bible where the word "Jews" is used is where the Jews were at war with Israel. ~ 2 Kings 16:6

It is not hard to figure out that the Jews can not be the "Israel" of the Bible when they are at war with the people and Country known as Israel.

The modern Jewish State of Israel would be more accurately named as the Country of Judah, but instead the world is handed the same old lies and deceptions of the past 1,500 (or more) years.

It is not just the Jewish people but also virtually all of Christianity makes the untrue claims that the old Testament is about the Jews when it is about Israel, and the other nonsense that Hebrew means Jewish which it does not, and Moses did not give the name of Judaism to the religion of the Pentateuch.

My understanding is that in the very old ancient times then they did not have any names for religion, and they only had different names for different Gods.

What Moses introduced was "Yahweh Elohim" which is interpreted as "Father of the Gods".

Exodus 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of Elohim, but by my name Yahweh was I not known to them.

According to the NT the early followers of Christ did not like being called Christians, but the Apostle Peter said that being called Christian was better than being called an evildoer, see 1 Peter 4:14-16

Separating people by religion is a later thing to do, and it was a big part of the divide-and-rule mentality.

The Bible also declares that God broke the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. See Zechariah 11:14

Have You ever noticed that Daniel was given a New Name while a prisoner in Babylon ?

Daniels new name was Belteshazzar.

- Hebrew 1095 בּלטשצּר bêlṭesha'tstsar / bale-tesh-ats-tsar'.

Notice the ending on the name is Tsar or Cesar.

They wanted Daniel to serve with the Monks or Enochs in Baal Worship.

So they NAMED Danial The Name - BAAL CESAR or BAAL TZAR.

God's chosen people were first known as Hebrews. When they moved into the Promised Land, they formed the nation of Israel and were called Israelites. The nation was divided with Israel being the northern kingdom and Judah forming the southern one.

The word "Jew" comes from the word "Judah". But the word wasn't used just to describe the people from the southern kingdom. Judah was a dominant tribe and, therefore, all 12 of the Israelite tribes came to be known as Jews. The word "Judaism" stems from the word "Judah" as well.

Ethnically, whether called Hebrews, Israelites or Jews, they are descended from Abraham through Isaac and Jacob and, eventually, Moses. That makes Abraham the first Jew.
