Restored to life as it was, or restored to life as it is now?

What was it like then, and what is it like now?

When Jesus' crucified dead body was laid to rest, it was a normal human body; subject to death, decay, and the aging process.

Up in Heaven, his body is immune to all that.

But what about that day on Earth when Jesus' body was restored to life? Did it retain its normal vulnerabilities, or was his body restored to life somewhat superhuman?

In other words: when did Jesus' body become immortal? The day of his resurrection, or the day of his ascension?

Well, in several translations Mark 16:9-12 says

9 Jesus rose from death early on the first day of the week. He appeared first to Mary Magdalene. One time in the past Jesus had forced seven demons out of Mary. 10 After Mary saw Jesus, she went and told his followers. They were very sad and were crying. 11 But Mary told them that Jesus was alive. She said that she had seen Jesus, but they did not believe her. 12 Later, Jesus appeared to two followers while they were walking in the country. But Jesus did not look the same as before he was killed.

or words to that effect. So maybe he was decaying a bit. Image

Rom 6:9 strongly suggests that Jesus' crucified dead body was restored to life with
immortality; but according to John 20:17, it was not yet glorified.

I believe Jesus was resurrected (restored to life) in an invisible spirit body, such as is possessed by YHWH (Jehovah) and the angels. It is only in such a body could he return to live in heaven.

Your beliefs are not yours; they're Orwellian beliefs, viz: you believe what the Watchtower Society tells you are your beliefs. If the Governing Body were to say that two plus two equals five, then for you, two plus two would equal five regardless of your better judgment's objections.

ATTN: The Society has managed to convince its Jehovah's Witness followers that Christ's post-resurrection appearances were done in a materialized body, i.e. an avatar; and that his crucified dead body remains deceased. The Society says it wasn't restored to life, rather, is now squirreled away somewhere on Earth in a condition, and a location, known only to God.

"If Jesus were to take his body of flesh, blood, and bones to heaven and enjoy them there, what would this mean? It would mean that there would be no resurrection of the dead for anybody. Why not? Because Jesus would be taking his sacrifice off God's altar." (page 237 of the April 15, 1963 issue of the Watchtower magazine)

There are only two types of bodies, a spiritual one or a physical (flesh and blood) body. The bible is quite clean which one Christ was resurrected in.

1 COR. 15:44 NRSV

“If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body. Thus it is written ‘The first man, Adam, became a living being’; the last Adam [Jesus] became a life-giving spirit. .”

COULD JESUS NOT BE GIVEN BACK HIS FLESH AND BLOOD BODY RESTORED TO LIFE ?

Absolutely not ! Scripturally speaking, Jesus body had been offered to God as a sacrifice.
HEBREWS 10:10 New Living Translation

For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.
Like the whole burnt offerings (sacrifices) the Jews offered to God at the temple, taking it back off the alter would constitute annulation of the sacrifice; and thus annulation of the ransom. To illustrate, imagine a young man asks the woman he loves to marry him. He offers her an engagement ring to represent his commitment. Now imagine three days later he asks her for his ring back. At that momment what happens to the engagement? Jesus could not reclaim his human body, even temporarily without invalidating his sacrifice.

Christianity is not a death culte, and there is absolutly no scriptural teaching that requires the recovery or reanimation of Jesus mutilated corpse.

Because God disposed of the body. If a human can dispose of a corpse I see no reason to believe God cannot do the same.
