This is a question that nobody seems to have an answer to. Do Muslims believe Ishmael was circumcised? If so then when did it happen, and who circumcised him?

Peace to you,

I can't recall reading about it in the Quran, but Abraham circumcised Ishmael and his entire household, from Genesis 17.

On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him. 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised, 25 and his son Ishmael was thirteen; 26 Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that very day. 27 And every male in Abraham’s household, including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him.

I am guessing Muslims accept that Ishmael was circumcised from this.

Peace again to you!

Hi Tam
Yes according to Moses, Ishmael was circumcised at the age of 13 along with his Father Abraham and the Whole tribe.
Problem for Muslims is that according to Mohammed, Abraham took Hagar and Ishmael to Mecca [which was uninhabited] as a breastfeeding baby and left them there to live or die "Inshallah" as they say. According to the Hadith - he did not see Ishmael again from the time he was a breastfeeding baby to the time of his second marriage.
So...the question remains...when was Ishmael circumcised, and if not...is he therefore OUTSIDE the covenant of Abraham.
The only thing that might have been an option is that his mother Hagar did it according to Egyptian rites. But that has nothing to do with Abraham.
It is a flaw in the story of Mohammed that he never addressed this issue about Abraham taking Hagar and Ishmael to Mecca [which did not exist until the 4th C AD.]

I just need a clear question, to provide you with a clear answer. Going back to the same point will be entering a loop.

So, as agreed, he was circumcised. Was it mentioned in the Quran?. No. When did it happen?. We have no idea.
