How to praise a member's post:

- Next to the user's post that you like, click on "MPG Donation".
- Enter how many tokens you'd like to donate and enter a comment on that particular post. It'll then send a PM to that user and also automatically post in this thread the message you entered.
- MPG donations may not be used for anything other than to praise a post or to acknowledge agreement. It cannot be used to denigrate, debate, or question a post.

.
OUTSTANDING presentation.

If there was a Forum Award for best post of the year, I would nominate this one.

Brilliant reply. Unlike your interlocutor, you provided a through, plausible explanation for all available facts.

I regret I have but only one like to give for this post.
I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.

You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.

To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight

Brilliant stuff. It is true that people can become better people due to many reasons. Sometimes it might be by embracing religion. But it certainly doen't have to be and there are many instances where believe in Jesus and the bible makes people worse off.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

I heard this passage at a wedding sermon on the long weekend (in Australia) and I really just had to run it up the flag pole to see the denials and what form they would come in.

Sorry for any frustration caused :)

Outstanding guidance towards resources which will help theists to think more critically! It is always better to teach them how to think than what to think.

Pretending, it is how religions get done!

Well said! I didn't quote any one sentence here because they are all dead-on.
To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

- American Atheists

Not believing isn't the same as believing not.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

You deserve an award for engaging in a relatively thorough investigation of that documentary's source materials. It must have required a good bit of time and effort to research. Excellent work!
