Thank you. I can understand still being poor and keeping clothes, even other necessities.
I notice we haven't heard any excuses from a believer...
I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.

You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.

To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight

An excellent response!
To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

This has turned into a really fun post and it started with excellent foundations, too!

I wonder if we will finally convert 1213 and JW to atheism.

Point well made

Non-Theist

ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

"What can be substantiated with verifiable evidence is meaningful."

This can't be overemphasized, especially considering how often it is ignored.

"If you brought that up because you think all atheists are logical positivists, please don't make that assumption in the future."

Yes indeed.
