Who knows the bases for our sexuality.

Post by ptosh16340@yahoo.com »

Everyone talks about our sexuality, but no one addresses where it comes from. In Gods eyes none of us have it correct. For those that their is no God, then in life's eyes we are wrong. God is life or life is God. Where did sexuality come from? Are we spirits?

lust

noun
noun: lust
very strong sexual desire.

Which drives our hunger to satisfy our inherent states of sexual arousal. Take away that huunger and our capacity for sexual feelings dwindles to zilch.

The picture has more truth than you know. Life or God did not give us our current sexuality. We had to learn to be what we are. So where did it come from?

Sexuality is a term put together by people so we can wrap our finite minds around one, of many, parts of ourselves.
What we attribute to our sexuality is up to us, not any deity.
I'm unsure trying to figure where this came from will do any good for us. Knowing where it comes from will not help us better understand ourselves because we're the ones who decided what's right and wrong for us, not any god because, be definition of a god, we can't truly know what any god thinks or understands (assuming there is any god at all). We need to use our own moral compass to navigate life, not some invisible jinn in the sky IMO.

Au contraire. Christian, among others, take their cues from just such a god, whether he actually exists or not. And because they constitute a large percentage of the "we" population that decides what's right and wrong for us it's kind of important to know whatever we can about them, including their take on sexuality. As it turns out, for many Christians the basis for our sexuality is god's word, or at least their interpretation of what is said in the Bible. Hardly a reasonable source of morality to try to impose on everyone, but there we are. Image In main, homosexual acts, sodomy, should be outlawed. Bestiality should be banned. Oral and anal sex are sins. and even masturbation is sometimes considered to be a no-no. And, of course, absolutely none of this should ever, ever, ever take place outside of marriage.

I should have said it differently originally. We should be the ones that decided how we define our lives, not some invisible magic man/woman/being floating around in the ether.

I don't believe anything came from the Christian god. We are what we are because of who we are. I don't think there needs to be any other investigation past that. Not because it may or may not prove a deity real, but because, well....it seems pretty pointless to try to discover the WHY or WHERE FROM when we should be looking at the here and now and not discriminating against people because they're different from us.
Have a great, potentially godless, day!
