It seems to me, that new members rarely post a introduction thread anymore. As such I am making this thread as a way that new members can say hi, and get to know a couple of people on the forums.

So to all the new members:

First of all, hello!

Second, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?
“People generally quarrel because they cannot argue.
- G.K. Chesterton

“A detective story generally describes six living men discussing how it is that a man is dead. A modern philosophic story generally describes six dead men discussing how any man can possibly be alive.

I am a Minister for the Sesser church of Christ in Illinois
I became a Christian four years ago

I am trying my best to make it clear that it is not my intent to force my beliefs upon others, but to give an answer demonstrating why I believe what I believe
(and of course, on occasion and in debate, show why reasons for unbelief are inadequate)

I believe that the following facets of my faith can be demonstrated by logical deduction
1. There is a God
2. The Bible is God's Word*
3. Jesus Christ is the Son of God

Don't ask me what denomination I am because I am not a member of any denomination - I am a Gospel preacher and a member of the church of Christ (Rom. 16:16)

*By the Bible, I mean the 39 books commonly found in the Old Testament (Genesis-Malachi) and the 27 books commonly found in the New Testament (Matthew-Revelation) - not a precise enough definition for my taste, but it will do for know

Any questions, feel free to ask!
Welcome
I would like to ask a number of questions, but not here in the chat, but in a proper debate forum so that we can test your beliefs.

However, one question that need not be debated, by church of Christ do you mean a kind of generic Christian unaffiliated with any denomination or did you mean the denomination known as church of Christ with their doctrines of believers' baptism for the forgiveness of sins, no instrumental music in worship historically linked to Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone?

Here are links to the other questions:
Can the existence of God be demonstrated by logic?
Can the Bible's divine authorship be demonstrated by logic?
Can Jesus Christ can be shown to be the Son of God by logical deduction?
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
First Epistle to the Church of the Thessalonians
The truth will make you free.

My faith

I am not a member of a denomination. The church is an assembly of Christians who desire to only practice and teach what is found written in the New Testament. One does not need to be a member of a denomination to be a Christian.

Though we believe in "singing and making melody in our hearts" (Eph. 5:19) without mechanical instruments and believer's baptism for the remission of sins (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21), I believe that the head of the church is Jesus Christ and that the church came into existence on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).

I deny the existence of miracles past the 2nd century AD, and that the Scriptures in their entirety are Divinely inspired and all-sufficient (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:3).
I say this to explain that my connection to the apostolic church is not through Campbell, Stone, or any human agent, but the New Testament.

As for those links, I hadn't expected to be debating so soon.
I'll need some time to review, but I'd like to address the topics in that order:
Existence of God
Inspiration of the Bible
Deity of Jesus of Nazareth

I look forward to some good discussion!

Whats worse is some of those I have multiple versions

I am debating to buy a Sig 1911 at some point but I am kinda not a 1911 fan over all. I would take one of my two P220's over a 1911 anyday of the week.

Let me know when you are ready for purchase and I provide myself for any questions you might have.

Hi!

Hi everyone! I just registered because I found the discussion here to me much more useful than any other site I've seen in my searches for information. A short bit about myself: I was raised a serious Christian, played keyboard/organ/keytar (that's right), at pretty much every church I attended for about 7 years, and left the Air Force to move to Sin City to help start up a church. Vegas was a nice place for evangelism because of all of the foot traffic, and while I was there, I got many questions from people. I never came across anything I couldn't explain, but I wanted to be better prepared, so I gave a thorough, honest look at the evidence for/against Christianity. In my research, it just didn't add up, and of all the world views that had any evidence, Judaism seemed the strongest. A year later, I moved to the DC area, and 2 years after that, with the help of many kind Rabbis and friends, my wife and I finished conversion with the Orthodox Jewish court. I'm always looking and learning, keeping track of every side of every disagreement that I can find, and trying to keep an open mind. I hope to find many sides of many disagreements here well represented!
DISCLAIMER: By showing Christianity to be false, I only intend to clarify the truth of Judaism. If you're questioning, see Rabbi Dr. Gottlieb and Noahidism for a good start
