I'm not sure if you have any desire for a new Bible, but the NIV Quickview Bible is illustrated with infographics. Unfortunately, the paper version appears to be out of print, but the ebook is still available.

There's some interesting stuff about those 'thrones' here. Once you start to wonder why an angel would look like 'a flaming, rotating ring covered in eyes', it becomes clearer that there's a bit of an overlap between some more mystical jewish sects like the Merkavah school, and traditional reading of the Old Testament.

These days, some people practically worship cars, so perhaps this is a case of plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose?

I've always enjoyed ones like this that attempt to document the "one" true religion:

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

Not believing isn't the same as believing not.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

Love it! Our pretty things won't like it but this one is a hoot:

"My girlfriend and I almost didn't have the second date because on the first date I didn't open the car door for her… I just swam to the surface."
