hi Easyrider,Easyrider wrote:Greetings!
The problem with your interpretation is that, if true, the Jews shouldn't have been offended. But it's obvious that they understood what Jesus was saying to be a declaration of Jesus deity, for their response was:
John 10:31 - Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" 33 "We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."
Thus, the context and your viewpoint are contrary to the scriptural record.
Jesus didn't say I am God. they are the Jews who understood that he claimed to be God but that doesn't matter because as Jesus said they killed and stoned prophets before him. no one of this prophets which Jews stoned them claimed to be God. also Jesus didn't claim to be God. he just being a prophet enough for them to try to kill him.
Jesus said: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing" Matthew 23:37
and as I said before we have to not believe what enemies of Jesus think about him. we have to believe what his followers think about him.
many of his followers said that he is prophet. as I quoted before also they (his followers) after departure of Jesus continued to "keep up their daily attendance at the Temple" Acts 2:46 . that supports what Jesus said in Matthew 5:16-20 that he brought nothing new in the Prophets messages. if they knew that he is God why they go to the Jews temple to worship ONE God as Moses peace be upon him told them "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one" Deuteronomy 6:4-5 anyway, here more proofs that "I and my Father are one" dosen't mean that he is God.
"Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit," 1 Corinthians 6:15-17
And also
"One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4:6
And "For as the (human) body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many." 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
May God guide you to the truth.
be blessed..

hi
since one raised another. they must be TWO.
always remeber God said: "I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior." Also God said in Isaiah 45:21-22: "Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other."
also God said: "Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me." Isaiah 43:10
as for John, we know that he said "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17:3
since one sent another they must be TWO.
also we read in John "the Father is greater than I" 14:28
since one since one is greater than the other, they must be TWO.
also we read in Matthew 27:46 that Jesus said: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me"
since one forsook the other, they must be TWO.
Jesus said in Luke: "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." 23:46.
since the spirit of one can be placed into the hands of another, they must be TWO.
do you imagine that if Jesus was a God he says: "I is greater than my self" do you imagine that if Jesus was a God he says: "myself, myself, why have you forsaken me"
May God guide you
be blessed..
God first created Jesus, then through him created the rest of creation see Colossians 1:15 and 1 Corinthians 8:6. Similar ideas are found in the letter to the Hebrews, and also in the Gospel and Letters of John composed some seventy years after Jesus. In all of these writings, however, Jesus is still a creature of God and is therefore forever subservient to God see 1 Corinthians 15:28."firstborn of creation" in that passage denotes preeminence, not birth order. Please review the information in the following link for more info on that.

By the way, Paul calls Adam the first man. Obviously he doesn't think Jesus is Adam..
if Jesus was God that goes against what peter wrote. he said: "We must obey God rather than men! The God of our fathers raised Jesus" Acts 5:29-30Peter calls Jesus "our God and Savior Jesus Christ" 2 Peter 1:1. And Jesus (god) came to earth to take the form of a servant to mankind. Beautiful!

I know there are many problems with John 1:1 but that take a lot of times if I explian it I will try to find site talking about that.Considering John had already identified Jesus as the Word God in John 1:1, it is hard to give creedence to this. For the argument that God is greater than Jesus (only when Jesus was in his humanity) please review the information in the following link:

From "The Non-Pauline OriginNot only after 200, but already in the previous century, Rome preserved tradition, as far as it remained alive, and moreover created tradition and also transformed tradition. Only the uncovering of these church-historical transformations in the texts of the canon and the liturgy, the confessions as well as in historical traditions,48 makes visible the beginnings of the Roman community. One layer of tradition covers up the other and covers up the real history. Perhaps this study opens an interesting process to the astonished eye. As I think I am able to show by working on this newly achieved basis, the Roman Church is not erected on the graves of the apostles Peter and Paul; 49 rather, the Roman legends of the second century buried the Neronian grave of the last Pauline community.

hi Easyrider,
" The Lord possessed me(Solomon) in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: 28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: fountains 29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: 30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him"
also Jeremiah was a prophet before he was conceived in the womb of his Mother "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
there is no proof that they are one.
jesus always when he speaks about worship, he attributed it to God
read this verse "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy Godmand him only shalt thou serve" Luke 4:8
Notice the words "Him ONLY"
also in John 4:2 he said "Jesus saith unto her,..worship the Father"
Did he say me or Holy Spirit? the Father Only Him.
also he said "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him"
Notice he says true worshippers worship the Father not any one else.
"God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?" Numbers 23:19
"And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or have regret, for he is not a man, that he should have regret." 1 Samuel 15:29
"I will not execute my burning anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God and not a man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath." Hosea 11:9
God would not be a man because if he chooses to become a man, He would immediately contradict his declaration of not be a man at above verses.
also look at this verse "For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." (Malachi 3:6)
God didn't change, he will not become a man, because he said before that he is not a man. Jesus is a man.
be blessed..

we read in the holy koran that God asked Jesus peace be upon him:
"O Jesus son of Mary, did you say unto men, "Take me and my mother as gods. apart from God? He said, 'To you be glory! It is not mine to say what I have no right to. If I indeed said it, you knew it, knowing what is within my soul, and I do not know what is within your soul. you know the things unseen. I only said to them what you did command me: "serve God, my Lord and your Lord." And I was a witness over them, while I remained among them; but when you did take me to yourself, you were yourself the watcher over them; you are the witness of everything"

hi Easyrider,
I don't know if I will be here tomorrow or not but what I want you to know that I love Jesus. I love him so much. I love his true disciples. I consider myself a true follower of Jesus peace and blessing be upon him. God says in the holy koran "Behold! God said: O Jesus! I will make those who follow you superior to those who reject faith" .
I don't want you to change your religion I want you just to come back to the true believe which Jesus peace be upon him taught his disciples
God says in the koran "O people of the Book (Christians and Jews)! Come to a word that is just between us and you: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords beside God"
be blessed..

HE** was a savior who was sent to earth delivered as a mortal through whom it was possible for sinners to be reborn into immortal life. He died for our sins and came back to life the following Sunday. He was born of a virgin on December 25th in a manger or cave attended by sheppard’s and became known as the light of the world He had 12 disciples with whom he shared his last meal before dieing. His devotees symbolically consumed the flesh and blood of him. Because HE** was a son god he was worshiped on Sundays. He was also depicted with a halo around his head. People gave each other gifts on December the 25th to celebrate. The leader of the religion was called a “Popa” – Pope. And his headquarters of the religion was on Vatican hill in Rome.
