What is the evidence for the nonexistence of God and is the Bible evidence of the existence of God?
God in this case refers exclusively to Jehovah as creator of the heavens and earth. A supernatural being.

Post #81No, you missed the point. Anything that could be contained in a box couldn't possible qualify to be described as God unless one has an very lax job description for the position. If that is the case, then sure, God could be a clown in a box.We_Are_VENOM wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 2:37 am [Replying to Tcg in post #69]
Even if God is a clown in a box, that still would mean that God exists, right? Which in essence undermines atheism.
So thank you.
Is that your contention?

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

Post #83No, YOU are missing the point. You pointed to an entity (clown in a box), contending that "there is God, right here". Well, if that is God, then God exists, which is a defeater of atheism.Tcg wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 3:20 pm

In other words, your attempt at humor actually proved my point, and it is just as simple as that.

Re: What Is The Evidence For And Against The Existence Of God?
Post #85Great analogy there Tcg. Open up the Bible/box and out pops Jehovah, the clown god. Thwarted at every turn, this deity has only one solution in his bag of tricks, bloodshed. Has there ever been a more inept portrayal of a seemingly omnipotent, intelligent deity? I doubt it.

You want natural evidence for a supernatural being? Hmmmm tricky. A being in super nature reaching into nature would be the equivalent of magic. You are asking for proof of magic. Sorry magic no exist in the natural world.

Religion is poison because it asks us to give up our most precious faculty, which is that of reason, and to believe things without evidence. It then asks us to respect this, which it calls faith. - Christopher Hitchens
