Leviticus 23:6 says : “And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread...”
However, Matthew 26:17 says: “Now on the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?”
Any thoughts on the seeming discrepancy?
Discrepancy between Leviticus 23:6 and Matthew 26:17?

Could you describe what you think the discrepancy is? I don't want to respond to an issue only find out I was explaining something that you already knew but that you saw a different problem with the passage.

I am making the assumption that Leviticus 23:6 is saying that the feast of unleavened bread begins on the 15th of the month, whereas Matthew 26:17 indicates that there is at least a day before the 15th for the beginning of the Feast.
Of course if the Leviticus passage isn't saying that it begins on the 15th, then there doesn't seem to be any discrepancy.

Post #6The discrepancy is that the synoptic gospels put the passover before the crucifixion and John's gospel puts the crucifixion before the passover. Some claim that the synoptics and the fourth gospel refer to different "feasts", but the same Greek word (pascha) is used for the passover in all of them and no distinction is made between them that I know of.1213 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:19 amSorry, I don’t see discrepancy there. That is an issue for a different topic.

Passover meal can be eaten early or late. And by what I know, in Jewish system day begins at 9 PM and so, disciples apparently ate the meal after 9 PM, but the priests ate it later that day. I don’t think there is any discrepancy.

Because John wanted Jesus to be the Passover lamb.
So he changed it so it would fit his dumb proclamation Behold the Lamb of God.
Christians read that and are mesmerized.

Avoice,
re: "Because John wanted Jesus to be the Passover lamb. So he changed it so it would fit his dumb proclamation Behold the Lamb of God."
John the Baptist made the proclamation, not the author of the 4th Gospel.
