If it makes people feel 'unique' and 'better than everything else', that's all that matters for some. Christians like to think they're the pinnacle of god's creation (which is ludicrous IMO). So no proof needed for those folk.

To needy humans perhaps, but the rest of animal life on the planet doesn't give a rat's pa-toot.

Sorry, but I'm stuck trying to think why. In time our species will go extinct while other life, those better fit to survive without fire and indoor housing, will continue on.

Both of otseng's observations are correct.

otseng "earth is a special creation, humans are a special creation.

This is on the assumption that otseng isn't claiming that other life-forms are less 'special' but that human forms are made for specific purpose, as is the Earth.

Is it a fair comparison to fret what we consider a 'special creation' to what we consider ain't?

Beyond that, what makes the criteria you propose the deciding factor?

The methodology (MEANS) is to have a relevant set of criteria, the criteria offered was just a suggestion which is why you see the words "such as " as in, "for example" , since they represent areas by which humans may well prove to occupy a unique position in the known universe. Other criteria may well be just as effective.

But it does offer insight into why our universe 'looks' the way it does - suspiciously like the inner workings of a brain.

Even if it could be shown that humans occupy a unique position in the known universe, that wouldn't establish that they are a "special creation." It'd simply show that humans are lucky when it comes to evolutionary progress. Beyond that, given that humans seem to be the only animals "advanced" enough to destroy their own environment, along with the environment of countless other species, we don't seem very advanced at all. We appear to be absolutely short sighted and absurdly wasteful. Dolphins for example appear to be immensely wiser than us.

I'm not seeing it.
