The Slippery Slope of Evil - Logics
1. You drop from e.g. Christianity (white list religion)
2. If you drop from e.g. Christianity (white list religion), you have become evil.
3. If you become evil, you can become ever more evil until death (Slippery Slope of evil)
4. Evil and more evil is no answer to life.
5. E.g. Christianity (white list religion) is the rejection of evil
6. E.g. Christianity (white list religion) therefore the answer to life
"White list" religions are the only answer to life! Including Christianity, of course!
Now! What about all those who reject Humanism and do not reject evil???
Do you consider this argument for religion to be strong or weak or something else? Is it plausible?

Re: The Slippery Slope of Evil
Post #2No argument has been presented. Item 1. is nothing more than a proposed scenario. Items 2 - 6 are all unsupported assertions.Aetixintro wrote: The Slippery Slope of Evil - Logics

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

I can't make any sense of your argument. Can you state it in another form please.Do you consider this argument for religion to be strong or weak or something else? Is it plausible?
George Orwell:: “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.”
Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."
Gender ideology is anti-science, anti truth.

Re: The Slippery Slope of Evil
Post #4You haven't presented an argument for religion but simply stated religion is good, non-religion bad. Something like Orwell's four legs good, two legs bad. To argue FOR religion one presents reasons for endorsing a God who tells a man to murder his son; or who thinks love is measured in the amount of suffering a man endures on a cross. Religion today kills blasphemers or girls who love the wrong person or men who love in the wrong way. So religion has a lot of justifying to do - it's not good enough to say: Religion is very good. In many areas it is demonstrably very bad.Aetixintro wrote: The Slippery Slope of Evil - Logics

Those who put Yahweh aside and concentrate instead on helping humanity are ostensibly good by any measure. There are some cold, hard-hearted brutes who love their God and shun their fellows.
