The Almighty and Fear

Post by William »

I was thinking earlier that Almighty - being two words made into one...All and Mighty;
Search "Almighty Meaning"
having complete power; omnipotent.

Such a being should easily be able to experience being frightened.

QFD: If an All Mighty Entity [AME] could frighten itself, how would it go about doing so?

For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. Job 6:4

Why not just accept that we are altogether the almighty frightening itself?

Everything of the physical universe points to that being the truth.

This is essentially the rock-so-heavy-he-couldn't-lift-it thing, with a slight twist.

I think it's perfectly fine to answer no, it can't be frightened, no, it can't create a rock so heavy it couldn't lift it, and that's no failing of its own but a failing of language.

But an all-powerful entity could easily experience fear through a fearful, probably lesser, being.

Any difficulty in feeling fear arises from the assumption that fear is rational, when it often isn't.

No reason this can't be true, and it goes for a much broader array of experiences than simply fear, including all experiences that a very powerful being would be unlikely to have, or have meaning from, on its own.

Point being, it adequately explains The Universe and our position within it.

You still haven't answered the OPQ.
QFD: If an All Mighty Entity [AME] could frighten itself, how would it go about doing so?
How would the biblical god frighten itself?
Perhaps by standing exposed before someone / something even greater than They are.

(Just like Adam in the first moment of fear in the bible.)

No.

Almighty means nothing greater than.
