When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.
Matthew 5:5

If only the bible mentioned a new heaven or a new earth, I might have a point.
2 PETER 3:13
But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise,+ and in these righteousness is to dwell.
One reason is because the real bird in hand that actually exists is better than the wildly speculative imaginary one in the bush.
Also because its been promised by God and (to mix my metaphors) I'm not one to look a gifthorse in the mouth in search of a better horse
PSALMS 37
Hope in Jehovah and follow his way and he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked are done away with, you will see it.

Hmmm...so I DO have a point.2 PETER 3:13

Why do you want this particular one?
So you were just being figurative when you agreed with me that YHWH can do anything? One reason is because the real bird in hand that actually exists is better than the wildly speculative imaginary one in the bush.
So if you were offered the Earth I described in post #2268, would you turn your nose up at it?Also because its been promised by God and (to mix my metaphors) I'm not one to look a gifthorse in the mouth in search of a better horse

Re: Paradise on Earth
Post #2274I have addresses this point. A place that is not bound by the physicalities of this universe does exist ...
Would I refuse an invitation to live in heaven? Of course not! The reality though is I have received no such invitation and am more than happy with the offer at hand.

Re: Paradise on Earth
Post #2275Well, if that were true, they would still be alive, wouldn't they? The instruction not to take the fruit off one particular tree was merely to give them the opportunity to show their respect for their Creator. If they didn't have respect for Jehovah, they were forfeiting their lives. He was their Creator; he had every right to make whatever rules and set any standard that he wanted to. It was to their benefit in every way to obey what God told them.William wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:42 pm [Replying to onewithhim in post #2256]
Sure. We are also informed by the bible [re the belief] that what caused this to change was that humans were prevented from having access to a particular fruit which gave their bodies the ability to not die.The belief that humans were made to live forever is supported by the Bible.

Perhaps the fruit of life is the missing ingredient then. Something about the fruit which would cause stabilization in the regeneration process.Science also supports this because science says that the human body regenerates itself daily and sees no reason for it to break down and die.
This is because - through science - it is observed that Stars do not exist forever. Sol is a Star. Also, science wouldn't say that the planet would not exist forever.
Who are you referring to? "They"?They would say that perhaps it would SEEM that way, but they just don't know.

Post #2278Why would YHWH not simply create a different universe where the physical laws are not the same as this universe?JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 5:14 pm

A simple universe without any galaxies and stars - just the Earth and sun and maybe the moon and put the meek there?

Post #2280How do you know that? Maybe YHWH had humans on that other one and when humans ignored YHWH, they were place within this universe. Perhaps your love for this one has more to do with attachment than with anything promised.
Perhaps too, you want to see this one 'cleaned up' and the rabble got rid of.
This universe appears most like one we could expect to be for the purpose of creating personalities.
It is useful for that product, and once the product is ready for other experiences, then that personality can be uploaded to different - more appropriate - experience realities.
It does seem like the better way to use reality simulations rather than superimpose one into the other - which is exempt from everything the other can throw at it -
