The Atonement

Post by Revelations won »

To all true Christians there is nothing more important to our salvation than "The Atonement of Jesus Christ".

Having said that, is it not therefore extremely important to every individual to understand fully what and how the atonement works for our benefit?

What does the atonement do or does not do?

What is required on our part to receive the full benefits of the atonement?

What and when and by whom did the atonement begin?

Can anyone clearly show all scriptures pertaining to the atonement?

I look forward to hearing your "take" on this most important topic.

Kind regards,
RW

Christs atonement wasnt for all humanity. It was for all who He saved, Gods Elect. Now Gods elect dont come into the world as believers, they like any other sinner come into the world as unbelievers, nevertheless Christ died for their unbelief, He atoned for it as well as for all their other sins. In case you didnt know, Christ died for people who are unbelievers, ungodly, sinners.

Christs atonement wasnt for all humanity.
It was offered to whosoever. Who does "whosoever" leave out?

Why do you call unbelief a sin? It is one of the two possible choices, not a sin!

I cant believe you dont know that unbelief is a sin. Unbelief is disobedience. Is disobedience a sin ? Rom 10:16

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Unbelief is of a evil sinful heart Heb 3:12

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Unbelief calls God a liar 1 Jn 5:10

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Do you see the light now ?

Also whosoever just means there is no racial distinctions in who believes in Christ for salvation.

Now going forward my comments are going to be about the accomplishment of the atoning death of Christ.

I cant believe you dont know that unbelief is a sin. Unbelief is disobedience.
Sin is the transgression of the commandments of God which are also called the law:

I John 3:4 wrote:Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Where did God command mankind to believe in Jesus as their Savior?

Redeem from all iniquity continued

To teach that Christ's Death only made redemption from all iniquity, for those He died, merely possible for everyone without exception, is against Christ, for its against, opposed to the real Truth of what Christ actually accomplished and effected for all for whom He died. He actually did redeem them from all iniquity. The word from see Titus 2:14 is the greek word apo and means:

of separation

a) of local separation, after verbs of motion from a place i.e. of departing, of fleeing, ...

b) of separation of a part from the whole

1) where of a whole some part is taken

c) of any kind of separation of one thing from another by which the union or fellowship of the two is destroyed

His Death separates them He died for from iniquity of which the rest of the world lies in see 1 Jn 5:19

He destroys their union with the world, flesh and the devil !

He as Peter proclaims redeems them from a vain conversation, or manner of life 1 Pet 1 Pet 1:18-21

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from [ek away from] your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

He redeems them from unbelief or being unbelievers, unto Faith in God 1 Pet 1:21 " that your faith and hope might be in God"

His resurrection, from His redemptive death, for all whom He died and redeemed, was for the purpose of causing them to have Faith and Hope in God, which confirms what he wrote earlier in the letter 1 Pet 1:3

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

His Resurrection from the dead caused them to be born again to a Living Hope, the same Hope of 1 Pet 1:21. This Lively Hope is also Faith, translated so in Heb 10:23

23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised )

As you can see, this Hope or Faith is a redemptive benefit, coming out of the Resurrection of Christ from the Dead, those who deny this, preach a false Gospel, and deny Redemption by His Blood .

Yet, the scriptures state that exactly:
John 3:16 wrote:For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Redemption is offered to everyone -- whosoever believeth.

But everyone will not be redeemed, only those that believe in Christ. So there are exceptions.

And this teaching is not against Christ, as it was stated and taught by Jesus Christ!

So Jesus taught that redemption is offered to all humans, but only believers will actually be redeemed.

The true good news of the gospel will be preached to everyone who ever lived before the end of the age of man can occur:
Matthew 24:14 wrote:And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
So everyone will know and understand the two choices and the consequences of choosing everlasting life or everlasting death.

Everyone will make an educated informed choice about accepting or rejecting Jesus as their Savior after being preached the gospel of the kingdom of God.

Those accepting Jesus as their Savior will gain everlasting spiritual bodied life, while those rejecting Jesus as their Savior will perish for all eternity:

John 3:16 wrote:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

So redemption will be offered to everyone.
