New combined vaccine

Post by Rose2020 »

I am very grateful to scientists who are continuing to develop more advanced protection for all of us from covid and it's variants. I believe that those involved have the benefit of all humanity at the heart of their work. How fortunate we are to have such gifted people striving for our lives to be saved, along with all the medical experts?

Yet so many people just cannot accept this. They refuse vaccination and find fault with things of which they have no knowledge. Yes science does sometimes go wrong, bad things do happen as cures and preventives are worked on. This is the risk we cannot avoid in the interests of progress But overall great benefit is achieved in medical science.

I place my trust in both science and God. There is no clash in that in my mind. God created us as creative beings able to solve problems.

So I am ready for my fourth vaccine and continue to take the flu one. At my age I choose to trust in those who are the experts.

It is what I believe, that the Bible is the word of God.
You believe what you wish.

What you believe would be better said from a soapbox on a street corner in a loud confronting voice. This is a debate site and may not be for you.

Also, you forgot to address your deceptive statement. Why is that?

Here it is again: "God always gives us the tools and means we need, if we ask for help in prayer."
It has been shown to be an incorrect statement. Have you ammended your thinking, will you defend it or will you continue to believe it anyways?
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.

I blame man for codifying those rules into a book which allowed superstitious people to perpetuate a barbaric practice. Rules that must be followed or face an invisible beings wrath. - KenRU

It is sad that in an age of freedom some people are enslaved by the nomads of old. - Marco

If you are unable to demonstrate that what you believe is true and you absolve yourself of the burden of proof, then what is the purpose of your arguments? - brunumb

That's just it. I don't believe what I wish.

I wish that there were a benevolent father-son team that would listen to me when I put on a constipated face and repeat "Lord, we just, just pray that you'll just..." enough times, they'd fix things for us and make sure that everything will, one way or another, come out alright in the end.

I wish that, but I don't believe it.

This is such an important distinction. I've been told by many theists that one chooses what they believe. So, I ask them to believe and only for a second or two, that their God doesn't exist. None has ever managed to do so or even if my memory is correct, to respond to my challenge in anyway.

Can one believe something they don't believe or not believe something they do? Of course not. We believe that which we are convinced is true.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

I think the main problem during this hysterical pandemic has been ignorance, fear and arrogance. A potent mix.

Small snippets of 'science' have been pounced upon by media and the 'man in the street' and interpreted without any real basis or knowledge.

The fact is that most of us have not got the slightest understanding of viruses or vaccines. If the average vocal agitator was placed in a laboratory and had things explained to him, he would not get beyond the most basic mathematics, chemistry, biology etc. Of course we do not know what is in the vaccines, we don't need to know.
We don't know what is in most of our medicines but we take them gratefully enough when we feel sick Leave it to the medical scientists. They DO know, so just trust them. They are not going to deliberately kill us, track us, control us. Thousands of hard working scientists and technicians are involved in making and distribution of vaccines - conspiracy theories are absurd.

The fact is vaccines have worked. Risk is clearly minimal otherwise huge numbers would have perished upon being vaccinated.

So a humble grateful attitude is more appropriate surely? Some thanks and praise for those who are saving our lives. A book called 'Vaxxers' is very good, written by the two leading scientists who created the first vaccine, Astra Zeneca. It is an excellent book that provides proper information about how it was done and so quickly.
