What if Adam and Eve Had Resisted...?

IF Adam and Eve had resisted the temptation to eat the forbidden fruit, would they have been permitted to do so eventually?

IF we consider that knowing good from evil is a necessary device in which to ensure the success of human reproduction [humans multiplying] and the survival of societies for the sake of progression from one state to the next;

THEN we would have to conclude that the answer to the OPQ is "Yes".

Re: The problem of evil thread, this;
William: Also, please explain why YHWH had no doubts about Job and was confident the accuser would not sway Job, but did have doubts with Adam and was not confident Adam could not be swayed...since that is what we are told happened - Adam was swayed - and we can assume that YHWH knew Adam would fail as surely as YHWH knew Job would not.
He knew the people involved. What is in them; the inside of the cup. Nothing is hidden from Him. {SOURCE}
More evidence that YHWH expected Adam to fail and for sin to enter the world as a result, and went along with that - because it was good.

Another clue which suggests that - even if YHWH knew Adam & Eve would resist the temptation to eat the forbidden fruit - they would have been permitted by YHWH, to do so eventually.

However, it begs the question;

Q: IF YHWH had known that Adam and Eve would resist the temptation, would YHWH have made the rule against them eating the fruit at all? :-k

If they obeyed we would all be living in paradise forever, obedient to God who would delight in our company and we in His.
But because we are incapable of obedience, we sentence ourselves to a life of suffering.
Only through Christ have we the chance to be back in paradise.i want that chance because there is nothing on the earth to compare.

Your beliefs appear to circumnavigate the OPQ by not adding admittance to the obvious fact that YHWH intended this to be the case from the go-get.
What [about your stated beliefs], are on topic?

Absolutely. Being all knowing, god knew from the very beginning that A&E would eat the apple, and he would be inflicting the rest of humanity with the consequences of their sin. It was god's plan that mankind would misbehave, trespass, do wrong, do evil, make trouble, sin, murder, commit transgressions, indulge in vice and wickedness, covet, take pride, envy, embrace immorality, and even bonk hubby on the head with a cast iron frying pan because it felt good. Why? Entertainment is the only reason I can think of. God was bored.

It was impossible for A&E to have resisted.

I think they could have asked from God directly what is good and evil. And I believe they would have had the answer. The fruit gives the answer in painful way.

No. God prohibited eating from that tree on pain of death. It would be entirely contradictory to then later offer the same thing as a reward. Rather like asking if pedophilia will one day offered as a reward for not being a pedophile.

But Rose, the original paradise* was on earth. Remeber there were animals in it (and trees and fruit).

*the word "paradise" means garden.

It was always going to be a matter of time. Formula: Curiosity + Free Will - Respect = Sin
If Adam and Eve had God's permission, they would have forever resented God for allowing such a permission.
So it seems God allowed them to learn from their own guilt, so he (God) might be there for them.
Free Will, Marvelous stuff.
