I have noticed that sometimes people with a scientific mind, people who have studied a lot and know a lot of information about different sciences, do not notice simple things that do not escape the attention of ordinary people, even if they have studied less or almost nothing.
For example, the fact that the animals that evolutionists call "lower" in the evolutionary scale still live alongside humans, and that others supposedly fitter, because they are located in a higher position in the evolutionary line of man, no longer exist.
Evolutionary theory holds that as animals progressed up the evolutionary scale, they became more capable of surviving. Why, then, is the “inferior” ape family still in existence, but not a single one of the presumed intermediate forms, which were supposed to be more advanced in evolution? Today we see chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans, but no “ape-men.” Does it seem likely that every one of the more recent and supposedly more advanced “links” between apelike creatures and modern man should have become extinct, but not the lower apes? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1101985017
To what extent do you think the "wisdom" of this system of things can cloud a person's mind?

Post #281Let me be the first here among us to congratulate good ol' brunumb, and let us all support his efforts, as he strives for that PhD in hen dentistry. Or would it be hentistry?brunumb wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 7:31 amIn case you didn't understand, let me repeat. Everyone who ever believed in something that was false also relied on faith. It is a useless tool for determining what is true. Your acceptance of the alleged teachings is purely based on faith. If you disagree, please demonstrate that they are irrefutably true.

So I ask again, how can we know the religious beliefs - the faith you hold are right, and others are wrong?
The teachings of Jesus prove it.

He is Gods son, he brought truth. In every translation on earth his teachings are unaltered-Except the word Earth -Land at Matt 5:5-- Certain religions tell all they are going to heaven, but its not what Jesus taught, thus changed the word from earth to land. I have a thread- the real Jesus-)8 teachings that show who is who-under Theology.

Post #285All we have is the assertion that he is God's son. We don't have anything written by Jesus himself or from the time of his alleged mission, so for all we know those 'teachings' are just the work of others with their own agenda.kjw47 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 7:49 pmbrunumb wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 6:01 pmPlease do us the courtesy of explaining exactly how the teachings of Jesus prove it, here.kjw47 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 5:38 pmJoeyKnothead wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 11:22 pmSo do con men.

1) trinity christians think he is God come in the flesh
2) Muslims think he was just a prophet
3)Israelite thinks he got his power from demons
4) The true followers know that God sent Jesus as the Messiah, Gods son, not God.
The most likely option is #5: He was just an itinerant preacher who got himself killed and others used as a springboard to start a new religion.

Re: Scientific thinking and common sense
Did you not know that faith is a requirement in order to believe in things that are false?
Want to believe in Bigfoot? Apply faith.
Nessie? Yup, faith again.
Alien abductions? Yup, faith.
Allah?
Vishnu and on and on?
Granted, a person could apply faith in something and that something could turn out to be a real thing. Either way, faith is NOT a valid way to arrive a truth claims as it is literally needed in order to believe in something false.
Therefore, to believe in anything due to faith is not a valid reason to hold said belief.
It is the best that religions have to offer though. Telling, no?
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.

If you are unable to demonstrate that what you believe is true and you absolve yourself of the burden of proof, then what is the purpose of your arguments? - brunumb

Post #288And faith is the excuse people give for believing something when they don't have evidence. No biggie, but it does put god in the same boat as Santa and the Easter Bunny.

The bible has proven itself true. In Daniel written years before the NT, has a prophecy about the establishment of Gods kingdom in heaven. It comes out to 2520 years after the removal of the last king in Jerusalem=607 bce + 2520 years = 1914= Rev 6--He receives his crown= the establishment of Gods kingdom rule in heaven. Rev 6 also states and Peace will be taken from the earth=ww1 1914 proving bible prophecys are true. We are well beyond that point in revelation. Its nearing the end.
