The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

So am I. I love discussing the word of God.

You asked if I agree with the following. “ So the " earthly kingdoms" are earthly (human) forms of GOVERNMENT * ; not restricted to republics - because there have historically been various forms of government. But basically "these kingdoms" as refered to in DANIEL 2:44b refer to ALL forms of human government that exist prior to being destroyed by God.”

My response: I don’t disagree or agree. All I know is that the earthly kingdoms are of this world.
So if you {quote} "I don’t disagree or agree" why did you give the USA as an example of an earthly kingdom?

He created the whole world in six days, but it's taken 2000 years to prepare the 'place' and it still isn't ready.
That's easy. 2000 years is only 2 YHVH-days...only 4 more to go!

"But Wait!!! There's more!!"

Be among the first 12 people to respond and we will go from there...the future and beyond!!!

The time of the Second Coming is what is set as 2,000 years from His death. Upon His return the place He prepares for us will be ready.

It may take one microsecond or whatever to prepare that new place. It will certainly be less than or equal to 2000 years.

My poor wording can be construed as meaning He will be working on it the full 2,000 years.

That is very probably not the case.

Thanks for pointing that out to me! O:)

Sorry.

Not sure. Probably because the Bible refers to different nations as kingdoms. I didn’t know you were looking for forms of government, and I’m not understanding why it matters, or what forms of government have to do with our discussion. It seems off topic to me.

God is a spirit.

Is God imortal?
Yes of course, and Jesus is the only other spirit person that is immortal, according to I Timothy 6:16.

Do you mean the planet earth? If God destroys the earth how can he rule over it forever?
How come you do not believe all things are possible to God?
Including lie?

See edit above.
If it were not possible for God to lie then
it would be a lie to say all things are possible to God.

Oh wait a minute

All things are possible to God.

How come you do not believe all things are possible to God?
That's just it----ALL things are not possible to God. See my post above.
Name one thing that is not possible to God.
You falsely say that I never answer your questions. I have already answered concerning what is not possible to God, as well as others have also answered.

(1) God cannot die
(2) God cannot lie
(3) God cannot build a mountain so high that he himself cannot go over it

Yes, I meant the planet earth. It will be destroyed by fire. The elements will be dissolved. The heavens will be on fire and be dissolved because of it, and the elements will melt.

There will be no earth as we know it. It will have melted. So we wait on God’s promise of the new heavens and a new earth.

2 Peter 3
10 But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass aways with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed. 11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness 12 as you wait for and earnestly desire the coming of the day of God.The heavens will be on fire and be dissolved because of it, and the elements will melt with the heat.
