Astrology and cycle of deeds

The danger that comes to a person is not because of planets (grahas) or stars, but because of his own bad karma done in the past. Even when the birth stars (nakṣatras) of many daughters-in-law are not mūla nakṣatra, do their fathers-in-law not die?

For example, a police inspector arrested a thief on the road. The thief is now claiming that he was peacefully walking on the road and that the inspector rudely arrested him and dragged him into his jeep. Why would the inspector arrest him, if he had not committed the theft earlier? Some people say that they suffered some loss or damage at a certain time as the positions of certain planets were not good. People often mistakenly think that they face problems due to planetary movements (graha sañcāra or gocāra). The real reason is only their karma or actions. The planets (planet-deities) are only the delivery-agents of their karma phalas (fruits of their deeds).

They can catch you no matter where you are. The good fruits of your own good karma and the bad fruits of your own bad karma are delivered to you by the planets. You are blaming the Judge (God) and the jailer (planets) for delivering the punishment. But why would they punish you, if you did not commit any sin? You are solely responsible for every fruit you receive. Both Jyotiṣa Śāstra (Vedic astrology) and Vedanta Śāstra (spiritual knowledge) go hand-in-hand.

Some false astrologers have created a misconception that your suffering is due to some planetary movements. It is God, who passes the judgments over souls and He decides which fruits are to be delivered to which soul at what time. Although planets have no involvement in giving the judgments, some astrologers have given extreme importance to the planets, just to commercialize Jyotiṣa Śāstra for their earnings. As a result, even the importance of God is reduced before the planets.

I believe in and follow every law of karma. Karma helps people realize their purpose in this world and follow the righteous path. If you read all 12 laws of karma carefully, you can find answers to many questions and ways to solve difficult life problems. They may be too trivial and simple, but it is important to remember that the truth is hidden in simplicity. I believe that the laws of karma are the rules for a happy, decent life. In parallel with this topic, I study numerology. My interest in this science arose after I often saw certain combinations of numbers around me. At www.trulydivine.com, I found the reason and explanation for this phenomenon.

I totally agree with you! . The scripture says that the fruit of the deed must be enjoyed by a soul and that, unless the fruit is enjoyed, it will not vanish even after millions of births (Avaśyamanubhoktavyam…, kalpakotiśatairapi...).

God has clearly said in the Gītā that He will neither cancel the good fruits nor the bad fruits of the deeds of any soul (Nādatte kasyachitpāpaṃ, nacaiva sukṛtaṃ vibhuḥ...). He also said in the Gītā that ignorant people claim otherwise and exploit innocent public (Ajñānenāvṛtaṃ jñānaṃ, tena muhyanti jantavaḥ…).

God has given only one path to burn the fruits of sins, which is the realization by spiritual knowledge leading to repentance and the non-repetition of the sin (Jñāngniḥ sarva karmāṇi, bhasmasāt kurute…). Even a sinner can be reformed by long serious and sincere devotion. By the grace of God, such a sinner being a strong devotee will come in contact with a divine preacher and get reformed (Kṣipraṃ bhavati dharmātmā…).

In this way, in the long run, there is a possibility of burning one’s sins. But it is not possible immediately, without the person’s reformation. The false theory of the immediate cancellation of sins is propagated by the priests so that they can earn their livelihood. They charge fees from innocent people to carry out different forms of worship, which are claimed to cancel the fruits of their sins immediately, even without their reformation.

No reformation is possible by reading some hymns in Sanskrit, which are not understood by anybody doing the worship. The actual way is that while doing the worship, the priest must explain to the person what he is reciting and help the person get realization through the spiritual knowledge preached through the Sanskrit hymns. The present way of performing the rituals accompanied by the blind recitation of the Veda does not help the person doing worship in any way.

Therefore, if a ritual is not helping in conveying spiritual knowledge and devotion to the public, it is a waste. This important fact should be preached to the priests who conduct these rituals for the public. Only upon getting realization through spiritual knowledge, will there be repentance and only after repentance, will the non-repetition of sin result. Hence, preaching spiritual knowledge through the ritual is the most important aspect of the ritual. You think that God will be pleased with your ritual worship done without spiritual knowledge. You think that He will cancel the fruits of the sins done by you and that He will grant you the good fruits of the meritorious deeds that you never did.

This is totally wrong! For such worship and prayers done by you, He will only rearrange the fruits of your deeds. He will postpone the fruits of your sins due to which you are suffering in the present. But in this rearrangement, interest will be added. So, the postponed punishment, which is the fruit of your sin, will grow and you will have to suffer more in the future.

He will also prepone the fruits of some meritorious deeds, which you were supposed to enjoy in the future and bring them into the present. In this preponement, there will be a reduction in the value of the fruit enjoyed by you. Even this rearrangement is done by God provided God has some hope about the devotee’s future reformation. If He has no such hope in the case of a devotee, even this facility or rearrangement of the fruits of deeds is not extended to the devotee.

I completely agree with what you're saying about the cycle of deeds and astrology.

I personally am a Christian, and we attribute events and circumstances to the sovereignty of God rather than to the influence of planetary movements or individual karma. While we acknowledge the importance of personal responsibility and the consequences of our actions, we ultimately believe that God is the ultimate authority and judge over our lives.

In Christianity, we understand that suffering and challenges may arise as a result of various factors, including our own choices, the actions of others, and the fallen state of the world. However, we trust in God's wisdom and providence, believing that He works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Sure, astrology may offer insights into certain aspects of life, but Christians generally do not rely on it as a guiding force or explanation for life events. Instead, we look to God's Word, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit for direction and understanding in navigating life's complexities.
