Rev 20:3
And he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
NKJV

1. Satan is currently the "God of this system of things" that we currently live in. Jesus called him "the ruler of this world" and for 6000 years Satan has mislead the nations (people that do not worship the true God Jehovah / YHWH) , blinding them to God's purpose (compare 2 Corinthians 4:4)

2. When he (Satan) loses the upcoming war of Harmageddon, his rule will end and his influence over the political States of this world (the nations) will end for a period of 1000 years.

3. The incorrigibly wicked humans will be destroyed forever and those judged worthy of life will enjoy a 1000 year of reign of Jesus and his co-ruler kings (see Rev 20:4b)

3. Following this period of 1000 years, Satan will be released to once more try and influence the people living on the earth at that time.

Satan wasn’t given power. He was given free will.
