Search function broken

Post by Kylie »

I load the site and click on the "Your Posts", "New Posts," and "Unread Posts" buttons, and they all tell me, "Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. The server has high load. Please try again later."

This makes it very difficult to see the posts that have the most recent activity.

Yeah, that sometimes happens. The site sometimes has high traffic load and the search functionality is throttled during that time.

Search was working briefly after the server migration, then stopped again. It hasn't been available for a little over a week, now.
Sorry, search could not be performed. More information about this failure has been logged in the error log.
Is this a known issue?

It appears that new posts since the server migration are not being properly indexed, since they don't come up in the search. If I go to view my posts, for example, the most recent one there is from August 14, even though I've posted several since then.

Thanks for reporting. Should be fixed now.

Something similar seems to be happening again. I don't know if it's part of the ongoing battle with corrupted posts or not, but search isn't working as I expect it for recent posts. A check of my posts, for example, shows my most recent comment having been over a month ago.

Incidentally, and what may be a separate issue, Google seems not to be showing recent posts, either. When server load is high, I sometimes use Google to find old posts. A similar search for my posts doesn't show as many as I would expect. You obviously don't control Google's indexing or their bots, but there might be a connection.

Yes, it was a related issue. Should be fixed now. :wish:
