The Grail is...
That which is closest to the Self, and which the Self finds its greatest satisfaction in. Finding that, one discards all the rest. But the problem is finding it.
One must go up the ladder, from sense-objects, to perceptions, from perceptions, to thoughts, from thoughts to awareness of thoughts, from awareness of thoughts to awareness of self. And then see what Source that self has, which is its own Self.
Scaling up, one leaves behind all matter, thought, reason and logic. Yes, even logic. There is no room for logic when you are face to face Alone with God in your very soul.
Beyond intellect is that Aloneness the vastness of which eludes all space. All contour, all dimension. And therefore all Ratiocination. But it takes practice.
The practice of the Most High, and, for the same reason, the Most Direct.
