Was Jesus God In The Flesh?

Post by HimWithin »

If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He be tempted by sin?

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are (Heb 4:15)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, why would He learn to obey?

Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. (Heb 5:8)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He have died?

He, in the days of His flesh, offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death (Heb 5:7)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He ascend to His God?

"Go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'" (Joh 20:17)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, why was His Father the only true God?

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (Joh 17:3)

To incarnate as fully human, Christ "emptied Himself (Phil. 2:6)" of all His divine prerogatives--omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence. This voluntary lack of knowledge and power made Him vulnerable in all the ways your questions cite.

If God is omnipotent, all-powerful, all-knowing, and immortal... could the only Being who possesses these characteristics truly divest Himself of them—qualities that are precisely what define Him as the one, true God? From a logical standpoint, this is not reasonable.

Furthermore, God has invisible spiritual enemies who, despite opposing His purpose, fear Him. Would these invisible enemies still fear God if He were to strip Himself of these intrinsic qualities—assuming such a scenario were possible—or would they seize upon that state to destroy Him forever, leaving the world without a God?

Moreover, was there a God in heaven (John 20:17) while another "God" had voluntarily cast aside His divine attributes? How many gods are we talking about here? Or, to put it differently: who is the true God—the One who will never, under any circumstances, cease to be immortal, omnipotent, all-powerful, and all-knowing?

Jesus restrained His power [being God] while He was in the flesh [of the Son of God] by acting normally as an ordinary man.
If Jesus was God in the flesh, why would He learn to obey?
Jesus did not persist in His Godhood while He was in the flesh [of the Son of God]; He lived and supped with His disciples as a normal man.
If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He have died?
Saying Jesus died is a wrong connotation; the Lord Jesus did not [and will never] die because He is the Almighty God, who detached Himself from the bodily flesh of the Son of God, per se; hence, the man who was called the Son of God died in that instant.
If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He ascend to His God?
Jesus, while He was in the flesh [of the Son], portrayed the Son, per se, before the eyes of the people to have God over him (the Son) and the one to ascend to the Father in due time. Unknown to the disciples, the Father was the Spirit and Life that was in the flesh [of the Son] and the one who talked to them all the way, but through the Son.
If Jesus was God in the flesh, why was His Father the only true God?
Jesus is the name of God given [by God] to the Son of God, whom you mistook to be Jesus, per se, which is an absolute error in knowing who Jesus is in His true nature.

In Biblical point of view that is almost correct, because according to it, God dwells in Jesus. So, it can be said God was in the flesh. But that does not mean Jesus was the God in flesh, he is the "temple" of God, similarly as his disciples ("Christians") can also be.

For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,
Col. 2:9
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
John 14:10-11
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?” But he spoke of the temple of his body.
John 2:19-21
For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's farming, God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But let each man be careful how he builds on it. For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ…
…Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you?

1 Cor. 3:9-11, 16

Jesus is the corner stone of God's temple.

Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes’? “Therefore I tell you, God’s Kingdom will be taken away from you and will be given to a nation producing its fruit. He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.”
Matt. 21:42-44 (Ps. 118:22-23)

Jesus restrained His power [being God] while He was in the flesh [of the Son of God] by acting normally as an ordinary man.

Did Jesus restrain His power and was acting powerless?
If Jesus was God in the flesh, why would He learn to obey?
Jesus did not persist in His Godhood while He was in the flesh [of the Son of God]; He lived and supped with His disciples as a normal man.

Did Jesus pause His Godhood?
If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He have died?

Who was the Son of God who died?
If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He ascend to His God?
Jesus, while He was in the flesh [of the Son], portrayed the Son, per se, before the eyes of the people to have God over him (the Son) and the one to ascend to the Father in due time.

Was the Son pretending to have a God over him?
Unknown to the disciples, the Father was the Spirit and Life that was in the flesh [of the Son] and the one who talked to them all the way, but through the Son.

Was Jesus and the Father in the flesh of the Son.
If Jesus was God in the flesh, why was His Father the only true God?
Jesus is the name of God given [by God] to the Son of God, whom you mistook to be Jesus, per se, which is an absolute error in knowing who Jesus is in His true nature.
Did Jesus give the Son of God His name?

Was Jesus still God in the flesh after He became empty?

Christians have a measure of God's Deity in them - the Holy Spirit.
Jesus had the fullness of God's Deity in Him - the Divine Nature.
Could Jesus be God by virtue of Him being one in union with the fullness of Deity?

How can a mere human rise bodily from the dead, go through walls to appear to His disciples and then allow them to touch His body?

Jesus was just acting?

You seem to be saying that Jesus was just pretending to be a man like us. Is that what you mean? Is God a fakir?
