Was Jesus God In The Flesh?

Post by HimWithin »

If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He be tempted by sin?

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are (Heb 4:15)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, why would He learn to obey?

Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. (Heb 5:8)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He have died?

He, in the days of His flesh, offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death (Heb 5:7)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He ascend to His God?

"Go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'" (Joh 20:17)

If Jesus was God in the flesh, why was His Father the only true God?

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (Joh 17:3)

Sorry, I don't think they can be called equal, because Jesus said:

the Father is greater than I.
John 14:28
Jesus therefore answered them, "Most assuredly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do-ing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does like-wise.
John 5:19
The Son of God, per se, a human like us, is not equal, and will, in any manner, not be equal with God, the Almighty and Father, whose name is Jesus or Immanuel - come what may.

Do you mean "tempted to sin or tempted by the devil?" Did Jesus ever sin?
As all (man) sinned (Rom 3:23), and Jesus did not, that would mean Jesus possessed something man do not have, His being God.
HimWithin wrote: If Jesus was God in the flesh, why would He learn to obey?

Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. (Heb 5:8)
Man's son obey their father doesn't mean they're not the same in the nature of man.
Just like Jesus obeyed His Father also doesn't mean they're not the same in the nature of God.(Heb 1:8)
HimWithin wrote: If Jesus was God in the flesh, how could He have died?
What died was Jesus flesh not His being God, the Word that was God from the beginning.
HimWithin wrote: He, in the days of His flesh, offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death (Heb 5:7)
What died was Jesus flesh not His being God, the Word that was God from the beginning.(1Pet 3:18)

Yes, the Father is Jesus' God, the Father also testified for the Son, Your throne, O God."

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (Joh 17:3)
Again, the Father testified for the Son in the context of 1John 5:10,11,12,20.
Verse 12 state, one who do not have the Son do not have eternal life, that necessitates Jesus is the eternal life in verse 20 and true God.

If we interpret verse 20 other that Jesus, we'll make the Father a liar, stated in 1John 5:10-12.

1Jn 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.
1Jn 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
1Jn 5:12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
1Jn 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
