How to praise a member's post:

- Next to the user's post that you like, click on "MPG Donation".
- Enter how many tokens you'd like to donate and enter a comment on that particular post. It'll then send a PM to that user and also automatically post in this thread the message you entered.

I don't do this often, but this post richly deserves it. Well said, my friend. YOU are grasping this, while so many others either can't, or won't.

Well said!

BTW I am just here to unload some of my tokens, not to debate.
Dogmatism and skepticism are both, in a sense, absolute philosophies; one is certain of knowing, the other of not knowing. What philosophy should dissipate is certainty, whether of knowledge or ignorance.

I happen to not agree with you, but you have stated your position very well.
Could have used some blank lines in between though.

Wish I had the time to debate but sadly I do not.

Good points - a down payment on what I would say if I suicidally started debating again, sacrificing job, school and possibly sanity.

Yes, there is legitimately enough divisiveness within Christianity without us over exaggerating it. Thank you for bringing us back to the real world on this issue.

I really don't have any interest in the topic you're debating and I don't really care about Judaism, but I admire the way you've managed to remain civil and judicious in a very hostile and uncivil debate.

I also find it admirable that you're refusing to back down even when someone is harassing you to go out and buy certain books and who is insulting your knowledge of Judaism.

Absolutely!
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Well said. This is one of he points I have been trying to make since I started posting here. You have suceeded better than I have.
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

That would be my "Christian" position as well.

I may no longer believe that Christianity is true, but I think my Christian interpretations are just as valid today as they were when I was a Christian.

And I agree, this is true of all so-called "sins". It's not necessarily the action but rather the intent and motives behind the actions.

This is why when natural disasters kill people it's not a "sin". Because there is no intent behind natural disasters. ;)

So for this reason the scenarios that McCulloch described would not be "sins" of adultery.
