In this thread http://debatingchristianity.com/forum/v ... 897#675897 I must have hit Reply when I meant to hit Edit.
So I accidentally made a (nearly) duplicate post. (Post 422 is the post in question.)
So I deleted all of the text from one of the two, and substituted two dots: ".."
Because that's how we do it where I come from. Two dots means, "This was a duplicate post. Or else I just realized it was stupid. Moderators, please delete this post (if moderators delete duplicates here).
But then it occurred to me to ask. Can I delete a post myself? Will my two dots be misunderstood? Should I have put something else, like, "Duplicate post"?

No, you can't delete your own post. I think putting a ".." is fine. Most people just put something like "(Duplicate post)" in it.
As an FYI, there should be no way to actually post a duplicate post. The text would have to be different (even if just a one character difference) in order to post again.
