I agree completely and you make an important observation that I had not completely considered.

My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

"The passage of Time in our physical world is clearly quite objective, yet it's not absolute."
Good post over all.. I especially appreciate the many distinctions you make.. between objective and absolute and between objective and subjective. I am reminded of our heated debates about those very words. I'm still not 100% sure that we agree but you do provide great "food for thought".

Darn, right and am I proud to be part of this group:
"You are right: He obviously doesn't care about SOME of us.
He cares for the sheep but not the goats.
HE cares for the good seed, not the tares.
HE cares for the people of the kingdom, not the people of the evil one.
He cares for the believers, not those who are condemned already for non-belief.
HE cares for HIS legitimate children, not those who are illegitimate.
HE cares for those whose Father is GOD, not those whose father is the devil...... "
I'd rather burn in Hell with Gandhi, then party in Heaven with Cortes.

I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.
You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.
To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight

Exactly. My thought too.
This suggests to me very strongly that you have then done nothing more than convince yourself that your own thoughts are the "Voice of Jesus'.

Powerful post.
Maybe some who are still 'somewhat' believers will read and identify with what you say.

Brilliant post. A god who doesn't act definitely seems very much the same as a non-existent god.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

I don't really have anything to add to your post, but I enjoyed taking a look at those statistics. Just wanted to show my appreciation, and didn't want the thread to get lost in the fray.
Peace!

Very well said. Religion is probably not the cause of unhappiness and desperation, but a direct result of it.
