Does the mention of Adam in Luke 3 suggest a young earth?
Post #1Does the mention of Adam in Luke 3:23-38 suggest a young earth? If Adam is indeed the first man, surely the genealogy in Luke would be much longer

Yes definitely, bible chronology dates humanity to about 6,000 years. I believe 6,0042 to be exact.
Yes I do. I have no problem at all with the bible chronology.

At this point it would be desirable to define human.
If carbon dating and other techniques is useless on humans is it also useless on the labors of humans?
A human's labor will tell us an age in which a man lived.
What is the oldest known thing that is not natural but created by labor?

Post #13That would be a pertinent observation if God had ACTUALLY WRITTEN THE BIBLE. But none of the various available Gods, and there are thousands, wrote the Bible. It was written by humans beginning some 3,000 years ago. Humans then declared that God "inspired" the Bible. Because they declared it to be so. Muslims can do even better. They declare that the Qur'an was giving to Mohammad word for word by the angel Gabriel. But declaring it to be so, doesn't really make it so, does it! Not even JW's believe everything they hear. And then there is the guy Joseph Smith, who declared that his book was given to him by an angel named Moroni. There is an awful lot of fulla-bulla being passed around, and apparently a never ending supply of gullible people willing to swallow it down.JehovahsWitness wrote:My explanation would be somebody's dating is wrong, and it's not God.Justin108 wrote:Care to explain the 160 000 year old human fossil found in Ethiopia?JehovahsWitness wrote:Justin108 wrote:And you believe this is true, despite science suggesting otherwise?JehovahsWitness wrote: [Replying to post 3 by Justin108]

No I don't believe God has to literally write the bible for him to be considered it's author; He just has to ensure it contains his thoughts and ideas.

Do you have a reason for this belief (physical evidence), other than "because the Bible says so," I believe it, and that settles it? "It's true because I say so," is not really debatable... is it!

Yes, in my opinion the bible record of correctly fulfilled prophecy provides evidence of its divine authorship. Humans cannot accurately foretell the future.
