The Quran - The Holy Scripture of the Muslims

Post by Mohsin »

Hey everyone. I will periodically post parts of the Quran on this thread in English translation . Others are welcome to comment and post parts of the Quran as well. Any comments or questions however are more then welcome and I hope all Muslims on this forum take a part in answering any quieries. Thanks

Consider this an attempt at reaching out to the non-Muslim surfers all accross the world and inviting them to read and research the Quran as it is in translation so that they can see the message of our scripture for themselves and judge the spirit of Islam for themselves.

For my first post I have decided to post the first revelation, the first verses revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). And after that also, the first chapter of the Quran which is called "The Opening" which has 7 verses which the Muslim is required to recite in every prayer.

So here it is, the first verses revealed in the cave named Hira. The prophet Muhammad was in meditation, and Gabriel appeared to him... He said "Read".... in shock and amazement, and probably a little embarrased since Muhammad was illiterate and could not read or write, he says "I cannot"... The Angel says "Read..." Muhammad again says "I cannot read, I am illiterate"... The Archangel then grabs hold of the prophet, and hugs him tightly and again says "Read...." and so begins the 96th chapter of the Quran, entitled "The Clot". The first five verses of this chapter make up the first ever revelation of the Quran to Muhammad. I will post the first 8 verses of this chapter.

Chapter 96 - "The Clot"

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful

1: Read in the name of thy Lord who creates --
2: Creates man from a clot
3: Read and thy Lord is most Generous,
4: Who taught by the pen,
5: Taught man what he knew not.
6: Nay, man is surely inordinate,
7: Because he looks upon himself as self-sufficient.
8: Surely to thy Lord is the return...

Chapter 1 "The Opening"

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful

1: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds,
2: The Beneficent, the Merciful,
3: Master of the day of Requital.
4: Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.
5: Guide us on the right path,
6: The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favours
7: Not those upon whom wrath is brought down, nor those who
go astray.

Ameen

Im thinkin maybe next time ill post some verses in the Quran
which deal with Mother Mary (Peace be Upon Her)
and/or Jesus (Peace be upon Him). And I am sure copies of
the Quran exist on the internet so that you can just read it
online if your interested please do so.

Anyways later every1, PeAcE

No. Scrot is, I think, impressionist. I am baroque. Neither is classic.
