According to Christian doctrine Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross, so that we, through faith in him, can achieve salvation. Suppose that we are judged. Suppose that we are chosen to spend eternity in either heaven or hell. Apart from the complexities of whether or not salvation comes from deed or faith, I want to ask a different question:
If we are offered salvation, because of the suffering of Jesus Christ, can we even consider it morally right to accept it?
Is it acceptable to avoid taking responsibility for our own actions in such a manner by using this "loophole" in the divine order of things?
Jesus died for our sins...

Sorry, what do you mean by this?thousands were killed by the Romans. Paul might have been. It is more likely he got caught up with his friend who was a friend of Nero.

In Paul's letter(the 7 that maybe his) he speaks of a friend of his that is a friend of Nero. Nero in his madness kills his friend Paul might have gone with him as well as some others. All we know about Paul's death is tradition. Some say he might have been in a witness protection program of some sort. He was a Roman it saved his life the he hung out with one of the Herods for a couple of years. Some say Herod wanted some money because he figured he had some because he bought his Roman Citizenship before he can to see James. Others think he might even have been related to Herod. It is in The Book "James the Brother of Jesus" As well as some other books about Paul.
Jesus Christ sent by God?
Post #23Nearly everyone today has heard of Jesus Christ. His influence on history has been greater than that of any other human. Indeed, the very calendar used in most parts of the world is based on the year he is though to have been born. As The World Book Encyclopedia says; "Dates before that year are listed as BC or Before Christ. Dates after that year are listed AD, or "anno Domini [in the year of our Lord].
So Jesus was not an imaginary person. He really lived as a man on earth. In ancient times ever the opponents of Christianity never doubted the "actual existence" of Jesus. So just who was Jesus? Was he really sent by God? Why is he so well known?

I belive now they call it CE common era and BCE before common era.
A lot of people are well known. More people know Tom Cruse in fact more people know him then knew Jesus in his life time. No one is calling him(Tom) god or savior. Maybe Tom does. Do most of the people who know Tom really know him. I don't know him. Most of his movies suck.
People that don't belive the person Joshua(Jesus) was a real human have legitimite points as well as those tha do see him as an historical person.
The questions have to do with his followers claims about him.
That is where the debate begins if you have got past the does God exist.
Even here we have many ideas and interpretations.
