Re: How Is The Hypostatic Union Possible?
Post #31It is impossible to be a human and a spirit at the same time since they are different life forms, with entirely different origins. That said, this may be semantics, since most people confuse a "spirit anointed" son of God (which all born again Christians are - John 3:3, 5-8) with a spirit son of God, which all the faithful angels are* (Job 1:6 & 2:1 ).

Respectfully, I think that you are overthinking what the Bible describes as a Mystery, @HimWithin.
Agreed.God is three Persons in one God
How can one person be fully God and fully human?and Jesus is fully God and fully human. That's it.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although existing in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a slave, by being made in the likeness of men.” (Phi 2:5-11)
If the person of the preincarnate Word existed with God in the beginning, and that same person emptied Himself of His deity and was later conceived by God in the human nature of man, then that person would be the Son of God by conception/begetting and the Son of man by birth, both in human form.
Let us dissect your quoted text: yes, the phrase "Christ Jesus existing in the form of God," just before He emptied Himself from that form of God, proves the "hypostatic union" exists.
If God's power had been divested, He would no longer be God, because God is never powerless. And the word "emptied" bears Strong#G2758, in Greek "κενόω kenoō" defined by Bible Lexicon as 'to divest oneself of one's prerogatives, etc., ' which would mean that, by His own prerogative, He chooses to divest that power of God that need not be grasped, as the Word's God's nature who became Him never ceased as God.
The power of God is His divinity. The two cannot be separated. If His power is divested, it means His divinity is divested.

I agree with you on this. To be 100% one thing, is to be zero percent anything else. To be 100% God is zero percent human.MrE- Are you suggesting that it is not possible?
Him-It doesn’t seem possible to me.
MrE-Are you suggesting that Jesus can't be both fully human and fully divine?
Him- I am suggesting that Jesus as one person cannot be both fully human and fully divine?
A bottle of wine is 100% wine and zero percent milk. That speaks nothing of the bottle. Jesus was 100% human container for the 100% divine/spirit-son of God.

I can agree with you here to an extent. They are different natures, to be sure. Yet it can be said that the spiritual man has a dual nature. We see evidence of this in the Genesis 1 account. It's the story of the image of God, who is spirit, but He has a physical likeness, a representation, that we call Adam (man). It is impossible to be a human and a spirit at the same time since they are different life forms, with entirely different origins. That said, this may be semantics, since most people confuse a "spirit anointed" son of God (which all born again Christians are - John 3:3, 5-8) with a spirit son of God, which all the faithful angels are* (Job 1:6 & 2:1 ).
The word of God was sent, not born. The spirit descended (like a dove) upon the man Jesus. Spirit gives birth to spirit, born above. Flesh gives birth to flesh, born below. The word/spirit/son of god was not born of flesh.* The foremost spirit Son of God was of course The Word (who would later be born as the human Jesus)

Post #37If the Son emptied Himself of being in the form of God and being equal with God, this would imply that the Son became human and was only human, and was not divine when He was born.

Post #38A "spiritual man" is a way of describing a 100% human being who has a "spirtual" or godly attitude or outlook on life. Such a person isn't half human and half angel, neither does he have "duel biology" as in is he a different life form, it's just a human being that loves and worships God acceptably.Mr E wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2026 5:56 pm [Replying to JehovahsWitness in post #31]

Again, like many you are confusing being born as a human (being pushed out of a woman's womb after (usually) 9 months of gestation) with the process of being "born again" or spirit anointed. Just like Jesus, "born again" Christians, remain 100% human beings (they don't change to another life form) but they are "adopted" as sons of God meaning they are recognized by God as having received his promise to come and live with Him (God) in heaven after they die (faithful).

Spirits, divine beings, angels--- it doesn't matter what name you call them-- elohim all, are spiritual in nature, not physical. They can fall, they can be sent, but they cannot "be born" of flesh. You are right in saying that people are not half and half admixtures of spirit and flesh. Humans are 100% flesh, with 100% spirit breathed into them. And so it was with Jesus.
While it's a bit of a misnomer, it's a simple way to think of the concept. Of course a spirit (divine being) is not "a man" at all, if we are to differentiate between spirit and flesh. A man can certainly follow after his spiritual nature in terms of attitude and godliness, but that doesn't make him anything beyond flesh. It's what's inside that counts. The same bottle that contains fine wine can be emptied and filled with sour vinegar, and vice versa.A "spiritual man" is a way of describing a 100% human being who has a "spirtual" or godly attitude or outlook on life. Such a person isn't half human and half angel, neither does he have "duel biology" as in is he a different life form, it's just a human being that loves and worships God acceptably.
