Is Secularism a threat to Christianity? The USA, the world's first constitutionally secular nation, is where Christianity abounds. How is it that secularism, the legal separation of religion and government, threatens the peace and safety of Christians?

Jesus was far different from that version of 'Christian,' as exemplified by those Christian demagogues today, like Ted Cruz who appears to hate the poor and want nothing more than to deny them basic necessities like health care.

In any event, the rest of us, along with the Christians who don't share your view of Dictator Jesus, don't have to worry. The next to the last verse of the Bible was disproved 2000 years ago:

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Don't forget the very first verse of the BoR.

Rev 1:1The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw"that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

I guess those who heard these words back 2000 years ago were not blessed. This verse can only make sense if the people who heard it back then would experience the end times.

That is true. I didn't realize that. According to him Jesus will return and destroy secular society, so it doesn't seem like much of a threat.

What is fascinating about your claim? It's hardly fascinating to find that when one takes an extremist position he is in the minority. It's predictable. Who are these masses of secularists who are 'hurting Christians?

On this forum we have Christians claiming alternately that ours is a Christian nation, a Christian culture and the way should be made broad and wide for it. Many Christians have argued long and hard and inaccurately that the founding fathers were Christian despite the fact they were mainly deist.

Christianity has largely been a bullying faith through most of its history, just like Islam. Still today, how many successful politicians do we have on the national stage who are self proclaimed Christians compared to self proclaimed atheists, irreligious, or non theist? Political voting power has always been at the mercy of the Christian vote. This is so obviously true that we even suffered from the extreme version of it when prohibition was passed.

It is true that many Christians and non Christians have wised up the last decade or two and pushed back against many Christian extremist beliefs as advocated by a hard core fundamentalism.

If your version of Christianity requires you to ever narrow who qualifies, and then you disparage everyone else as 'secularists,' how do you have the chutzpah to claim you are the one being bullied?

I don't see any Christians being hurt. Can you provide a hard example? What I see is the non-religious finally seeing their rights being put in the public scope, whereas before this minority couldn't get a word in edgewise.
