No. I didn't create hell. I didn't make the rules for this little cosmic game. I haven't made any outrageous demands of anyone.
No one would choose eternal torment just to do it. This is what Christians tell themselves to explain non-believers. If there is a hell I will NOT go there willingly, so please tell me, how will I get there? Will the angels fly me? Will God transport me there with his own power? How will I get from here to judgement to hell?
Also, if all I need to avoid this is to be convinced that he is real, then why isn't he convincing me? Let me guess, because he's mysterious...
What is hell anyway? Let me tell you what my understanding of hell is. Hell is being in a God forsaken place. In other words, hell is existing without God. You are presently not existing without Him. You are simply existing without acknowledging Him. There is a difference. Eternal separation from God is Hell. There is one thing that can keep you out, and only one thing, and that is God. God has provided one means for us, depraved human beings, to escape the judgement that the debt of our sin condemns us to. It is a gift of salvation and eternal life that is offered only through Christ. You either accept that gift, or you don't. But I assure you, every knee shall bow to Him. If it be on this side of the grave it shall be unto salvation and eternal life by God's grace. If it be on the other side of the grave, it shall be unto eternal separation from God, which can be likened to eternal destruction.
It's just faith. You just ask. If I can be saved, Jesus save me. It's so simple, it's perfect. It just takes faith.
1. a foolish or stupid person

According to my Bible
The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."
(Psalm 14:1)
So then, do you believe there is a God or not?
This is the ol' "with all due respect argument". We all know that you cannot just tell a person, "with all due respect, you are a (insert insult)". Why are you mad, I said with all due respect?
Yet so many Christians just don't get it and I hate to say it, but I was one myself for far to long. It's a powerful thing to truly believe you are quoting the words of a god.
So, to get back to my point, all you are doing is calling your fellow humans "fools", and then justifying your statement with, "but god said it". Derp.
This book you seem to worship also inspired you to say that you would laugh at those in hell while on your way to heaven. Why do you think this book would encourage you say these vile things? Oh wait, there not vile statements if you have been conditioned to believe that they are true. Your just stating facts after all.
To answer your question, I don't know if there is a god or not.
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.

Post #93Are you going to provide any evidence for your claim?Divine Insight wrote:I don't need to. The scientific community has already established this fact.Sonofason wrote: Are you going to provide any evidence for this claim?
Your claim:None of this has anything to do with the fact that animals eat each other. And also that they have been eating each other long before humans ever existed.
Have you been to high school yet? Most of this stuff is taught in high school. If you want more detailed information about it you might consider going on to college.
Please show that animals ate one another before the first human beings began to exist.
I see you place a great deal of faith in scientists and "so-called" science. But I want evidence, not just your word for it. Show the evidence and stop making comments about my education. I don't want you ever making another comment about my education. You know nothing about me. I am far superior in intelligence than anyone you will ever know, including yourself. So provide the evidence, or be completely silent.

Post #94I didn't say anything at all about your intelligence. I merely asked if you had been to high school yet because I was questioning your education. Not your intelligence.Sonofason wrote: Are you going to provide any evidence for your claim?

In fact if you are as intelligent as you claim to be then you are surely aware of the difference between intelligence and education.
And yes, I have total confidence in scientists and the scientific method of investigation. I have been a scientist myself and I am well aware that the scientists would love more than anything to prove each other wrong. They can become world famous for proving any scientific knowledge wrong. So I have very much confidence in what they do. I'm also well educated in the methods and procedures they use to confirm their findings. So I have no need to place any "faith" in science since I understand intellectually how science works and why it is sound and trustworthy.
On the other hand, if you need to renounce science in order to support superstitious fairytales that don't don't even make any rational sense at all, then I'm afraid I do have reason to question your intelligence.
Why should I believe someone who keeps throwing absurd quotes from ancient mythology in my face but can't offer a single lick of evidence as to why they should be believed?
If you're so intelligent perhaps you can explain why you think I should believe ancient superstitious gossip over modern sound techniques of investigation that can be confirmed with actual physical evidence from the real world.
I'm more than willing to hear your arguments on that.
But if you're going to continue to "Preach dogma" by just posting verses from ancient fables I see no reason to take anything you say seriously.

Post #95I see, you have no evidence. That's what I thought. The atheist never does show any evidence for his claims, yet they deny the overwhelming evidence for God. It's a joke really. There is PLENTY of evidence.. for example..
This is showing that T-Rex was a hunter, 65 million years before man

“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Post #97Sorry, it's not proof of anything. It shows that a dinosaur bone has a tooth stuck in it. We don't know why the tooth got stuck. These scientists, and you are making huge assumptions here. It could be a defensive wound for all you know.Goat wrote:Sonofason wrote:

And it certainly does not prove that men were not on the planet when dinosaurs were on the planet. I don't trust carbon dating, so you're going to need more evidence to convince me of your claim and assumptions.

Post #98I don't consider this to be a sufficient rebuttal.Sonofason wrote: You all are full of it. If you only knew how little you know, and how transparent you all are.
As Goat has already shown that there is plenty of scientific evidence already out there to support my position. He had no problem at all coming up with an example instantly. The scientific evidence is overwhelming.
I don't see why I should need to present evidence for everyday facts that are common knowledge that is taught in high-school.

Post #99Carbon dating is only one of many ways that scientists know the age of the earth and past events. Also, just because you don't trust it doesn't mean anything. Science has proven the limits of error for this kind of testing, and it can't possibly be off as much as it would need to be off to support the mythology that you claim to be the "Word of God".Sonofason wrote: Sorry, it's not proof of anything. Moreover, where is your proof that your mythology is the "Word of God"?
Other than the fact that the mythology itself makes this claim there is no reason to believe that it is anything more than mythology written by men.
I can show that those myths are false without even referencing any known scientific knowledge at all.

Post #100Goat did not supply any evidence. He supplied a website full of unsupported claims and quite possibly false assumptions. A tooth stuck in another dinosaur is not necessarily evidence that a dinosaur nearly got eaten. Why do you jump to these possibly false assumptions?Divine Insight wrote:I don't consider this to be a sufficient rebuttal.Sonofason wrote: You all are full of it.
