Blasphemous "How-To" Book

A recently published book has come to my attention and I feel it is necessary to warn my fellow Christians about literature's newest strike against religion. The author purports to make religion into a hobby that anyone can do, and goes as far as to insinuate using scrap materials out of one's garage to build pagan idols for worship! These people sit around drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes and doing lord knows what else, they put some words on paper and think they're good enough to be the lord himself! What's worse, the misguided and ignorant masses blind to the guiding light of god are buying into this filth! This book not only insults Christianity, but the entire concept of religion itself!

This is why we shouldn't teach public school children to read and write; the liberal public school system indoctrinates them into a hollywood-controlled and godless society by strictly enforcing atheism on them, and then our tax dollars teach these pitiful brainwashed kids how to commit travesties like this! If we could only limit the teaching of literacy to good, law-abiding, religious, private school children then things like this wouldn't happen.

If I may summarize some of these, we have:

- Believes that public school children should not be taught to read and write.

- Believes that literature (aside from the Bible and Christian books) is an affront to Christian morality.

- Would support a ban on all electronic media because it spreads the evil propaganda of Hollywood and video game designers.

- Looks back upon the Middle Ages as the good old days.

- Thinks genocidal crusades against believers in other religions is justified in order to unify nations under Christianity.

- Appears to disbelieve in most science (including apparently a disbelief in the existence of Earth's atmosphere!)

- Discounts the usefulness of medicine apparently because illness is a punishment from God and attempting to cure someone is an attempt to thwart the will of God.

- Apparently supports the imposition of the burqa upon women so that no part of their body will be visible. Naturally, concepts like sexual freedom, birth control, etc. would be right out.

Are you kidding me? If the Taliban had a recruiting poster, the items that I listed above that you agreed with would be on it. Only the name of the deity is different.

Oh and by the way, Muslims do not worship an "ancient demonic spirit". Allah is simply the Arabic word for God. Their religion, like Christianity, has its roots in Judaism and has some commonality with Christianity. For example, they acknowledge Adam, Moses, Abraham, and even Jesus (though as a prophet rather than the son of God.) Not exactly demon worship.

The fine tuning argument is akin to firing an arrow at a wall, painting a target around it, and gasping in awe that the arrow hit the target perfectly.
However, I shall respond to this. I am trying to find out how they got that way; I'm being productive. I'd be glad to hear any verifiable and coherent theory you have on the subject, but saying "God made it this way" explains nothing and is simply a ludicrous assertion, and thus is baseless at best.

Furthermore, do you have any theoretical work to show that life is 100% impossible with any variations on constant and laws of this universe? Also, more importantly, can you give me any evidence that we are the aim of the universe?
It seems to me that we're just something that happens in this type of universe. I, of course, am fascinated by this, and am endeavouring to understand what I can of it.

Personally I think it's a great idea, as the Christian god has no visible form, and we need to have something solid that we can focus our attention on. In fact maybe I can ask the publisher to let me produce the book in different languages, as everyone could have their own personal god, and they would not end up fighting with each other. Since you believe humans are made in gods image, god must be pretty rubbish if people can be so easily led astray by virtual violence and hedonism.

Temptations are placed in our path to test our worthiness to get into heaven. Those weak souls who reject god and ignore religion because it's "too complicated" give into temptations and live lives of wicked sinfulness. The world has been cleansed in deluge and conflagration times beyond counting, it will not be long before the faithful are raptured once more and the sinful die in their muck like filthy diseased roaches.

Also, it's quite interesting you know the titles of those games, particularly the last one.

A pamphlet it handed around our church to warn parents about threats to the souls of their children. My wife and I have not been blessed with children, but I like to do my part in warning others. All of the "games" listed reward players for mass murder, acts of terrorism, and even rape which is depicted explicitly on screen. It's like pornography.

It has also been brought to my attention that the game "Mass Effect" rewards players for global genocide, as well as encouraging homosexuality and bestiality. You go from planet to planet dropping nukes and killing billions of people, while capturing women on your space ship so you can have your way with them (you can play as a female character, a lesbian). The game encourages you to commit bestiality with the alien women.

One of my neighbors was so offended by what he read that he started a petition to make the "game" illegal, my wife and I were among the first to sign it.

How do you explain the Charles Whitman case then? That happened long before video gaming...or the Olean High School shooting that happened before any "murder simulators" existed. Oh and it's interesting, isn't it, that the vast majority of these shootings have happened in US schools, which according to yourself is the greatest nation on earth.

Books are plenty guilty for warping children as well, because any godless psychopath can write. However, electronic media holds more of the blame because it's more graphic and requires you to take part in the sinfulness. Children these days also play video games more than reading, and most schools have worked out a system where children play video games instead of learning from text books. I can't say that's any better or worse than it was before, children haven't learned anything of value in public school since some satanist decided it was illegal to mention god in school.

Had they been shown god's grace at the right age, they could have grown into respectable Christians. I will admit that I don't know how many different games there are, I'm only aware of the ones my church warns the parents about. I did hear about that golf game from Nintemo (I think they call it "Wing" or something like that), it could have been something child friendly but then they made it so that you can use swords with the controller and kill the other golfers. I'd lighten up on video gaming a little if every machine they made didn't have to be all about killing a bunch of people, it's ridiculous.

c) we are the only industrialized country where the income gap is growing. the poor are getting poorer. the rich are getting richer. in every other industrialized country, they are growing closer.

d) Japan especially, and many other countries, are vastly outstripping us on education.

Public education means nothing if children aren't properly introduced to God and told how to get into heaven, a teaching most parents these days fail to give.

e) our health care system is terrible. Both Canada and England's are superior, for example.

A health care "system" is unnecessary. God will decide who lives and who dies, who is well and who is sick.

f) many other countries(including Sweden) are far more progressive than the US, promoting human rights over corporate interests, where we fail.

Humanism is what led europe down the path to destruction in the first place. We do focus on corporations more than we should, but if more of those corporations worked to promote god it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Japan's crime rate is lower because less things are crimes; if we legalized rape and child molestation, our crime rate would be just as low too. America has stronger morals than that, thankfully. Japan's low crime rate simply proves how amoral they are, to legalize things we would call crimes.

Also, your idea of God violates special relativity; I suggest reconciling this.
