The Undefined God

Post by TheBlackPhilosophy »

This is a message for everyone. I've recently noticed some very poor debating. Many recent posts on this forum have lacked a definition of God.

This leads to debates that go for nearly six pages on average. Personally I will not read and comment on such debates. It would be much easier to define all of our terms so that we can clearly debate a topic.

I am getting very tired of finding these ridiculously long posts; I enjoy debating certain topics, but when it turns into this, I get discouraged.

I'm just commenting on the recent debating trends on this forum, if others feel the way I do please speak up! :)

Not only God, but there should be agreement on any terms used in an OP. If people would follow the Tips on starting a debate topic, it would greatly increase the quality of threads.

I have found that the question review subforum can be helpful in this area.

Tune up, help define, or just to get another opinion.
It is a helpful resource!

I agree, defining the god you are discussing can greatly help the limitations of viewpoint. Since there isn't One god and many religions, stating which god the discussion is about makes sense. The same with the term 'the bible', again there are many bibles out there . . . which one are you speaking about?

Maybe we should also define what we believe before we argue for it, or attempt to defend it. As it seems that we all tend to make assumptions about what others believe. :)
