Atheists:
An honest question here, which deserves an honest answer—why are so many (not all) atheists obsessed with convincing theists that God doesn’t exist?
Note: this is not meant to be hostile or insulting to any atheists. It is simply meant as an honest question.

Re: A Question
Post #31We were also given a brain by whatever powers that be. Be they god-like or otherwise. It seems to me that to believe in ancient Hebrew mythology is to insult and disgrace any God that might actually exist.GISMYS wrote: God has given us choice= we can choose to believe God's Word
There are far more respectable religions to be had. Why not chose one of those instead? Why chose to insult God by proclaiming the Bible to be "God's Word"?
Like you say, the choice is yours. You can chose to insult God by worshiping the bible as God's Word. Or you can chose to praise God by becoming a Buddhist, a Taoist, or a Wiccan.
The choice is yours.
Or, if you are genuinely interested in honesty you can chose to become an atheist and confess that you cannot know whether or not a God even exists. This way, if there is a God at least She'll see that you are capable of being honest.
I'm sure that if there exists a God She is far more pleased by wholesome atheists than by paranoid theists who are clearly terrified of damnation and see Jesus as their chance for a scapegoat to avoid their supposedly righteous damnation.

Man's purpose in life is to seek and find TRUTH=God! If you really seek truth start in the Holy eternal living Word of God, God is reveiled to mankind in his Word and all creation no man has an excuse to not know that God is real!

I have more than an "excuse" to not believe this ancient immoral nonsense. I have absolute proof that it cannot possibly be true. You can't ask for anything better than that.

Re: A Question
Post #36Sharing claims about "absolute proof" seems to be what you specialize in. The rest of us rely on science, reason, logic and deal with things that have greater or lesser probabilities, rather than 'absolute proof,' which seems to be a religious concept.GISMYS wrote: [Replying to post 33 by Divine Insight]

When one takes a more reasoned approach to scripture, one can see it for what it is: a collection of stories designed to justify an ancient tribe be able to steal, kill, enslave, including killing women and children by making up a phony 'God' to justify all that selfishness. It's very easy to see thru this nonsense if one simply keeps an open mind and searches for truth instead of seeking to justify what one already believes.

Re: A Question
Post #38Who you callin' "little?" I don't pass judgment on this 'God' character, because he is fictional. I do offer my opinions on the reasons some people invented this fiction. I also have opinions on the very poor basis some articulate for believing in such silliness.GISMYS wrote: [Replying to post 36 by Danmark]

Just know God's Word has some very strong words for those that mock and scoff!= God says=The fool hath said in his heart, “There is no God. They are corrupt and have done abominable iniquity; there is none that doeth good. Psalm 53:1
