Students and parishioners are rallying behind a Catholic priest at George Washington University after two gay students said they wanted him removed for supporting the church’s stance on homosexuality.
Seniors Damian Legacy and Blake Bergen want the Rev. Gregory Shaffer booted off campus because he taught that homosexual behavior is immoral. The pair has filed a formal complaint with the school’s administration and are holding a vigil outside the Newman Center, where Father Shaffer serves as a chaplain, until he is removed, Catholic News Agency reports.

Will the secular world rally to the defense of the Christian?
Will you?
I don't understand your question. It's really a joke, right? It's really a remark meant in sarcasm, right? It's really not serious, right?
If a sober and truthful answer is welcome, then it ought to be obvious to the most jaded person that the secular world doesn't give a twit about church leadership or persecution of any sort. In fact, the secular world welcomes it, since the church is viewed generally as a social speed bump.
The real question that should be asked is whether the church cares about persecution. It doesn't.
If this were a muslim leader there would be demonstrations and rumors of violence if not violence indeed. You know it. I know it. The church doesn't care. Period.
Not so much as a whisper of disapproval has been raised in the public media by Christians about this. The local community of all denominations ought to speak loudly and long about it. There is no such thing as separation of church and state when state sanctioned persecution raises it's ugly head against innocent Christians.
You get the government you deserve and by our disdain for public outcry Christians get the society they deserve. In the end judgment will come and because Christians have not raised a finger to oppose its' wickedness we shall all be caught up in divine wrath.
May God have mercy upon us.
and that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...
