How much sex is too much? Too much before marriage? After marriage?
And not in scientific terms.
Moral terms. Is there a "good" in having too little or too much sex?
Amount of sex?

I personally see no reason to even consider the amount of sex to be a moral or ethical issue.
It seems to me the only way that could happen is if the amount of sex was so great that it has become such an obsession as to interfere with other activities or responsibilities resulting in a degradation of life in other areas.
But that would be true of any obsession and not really have anything to do with sex in general.
So I don't see any moral or ethical issues associated with "amount of sex".
Having said that, there could exist other moral or ethical concerns associated with sexual activities. But those moral or ethical issues would exist regardless of amount.
So, no, given that the actual act of sex is moral, then the amount of sex should not even be an issue at all. Unless it's obsessive to the detriment of other things as I've already suggested

You know you've had too much sex when it starts to hurt.

For the vast majority of people, sex is a fundamental need. Any amount of sex--as long as it's between consenting adults and not done in violation of a relationship--is perfectly morally acceptable, and frankly a lot of fun . It's only certain cultural and religious constructs that have added guilt about harmless sexual activity.
There's nothing wrong with having a lot of sex.

I would say it largely depends on the individual. Some people have far higher sex drives than others some people have far lower i.e. asexuals.
I would say to much sex is when it starts to cause harm in your interpersonal and familial relationships.

Is sex a human right? Should society be required to ensure everyone has the amount of sex they need?Haven wrote: For the vast majority of people, sex is a fundamental need.

Post #8I've never been told a Christian can have too much or too little sex. It just has to be within marriage.Ooberman wrote: How much sex is too much? Too much before marriage? After marriage?

If healthy masturbation is included in that society could certainly do things to encourage it instead of treating it like it's some sort of horrible sin.
Actually encouraging people into engage in healthy masturbation may actually prevent sex crimes. People could be getting healthy sexual release without feelings of guilt and perversion.
Make a person feel like a pervert and you have created a pervert.

On your last sentence are you arguing by extension that homosexuality is a choice and that society makes homosexuals? Or is that at unintended consequence of your statement?Divine Insight wrote:If healthy masturbation is included in that society could certainly do things to encourage it instead of treating it like it's some sort of horrible sin.
