The above 6 lines started appearing on the Internet c. July 2002 (as best as I can determine) as an appropriately anonymous expansion/editing of the following three anonymous lines written on the wall of a basement in Cologne Germany where Jews hid from the NAZIs.

I believe in love even when feeling it not.
I believe in God even when he is silent.�

Though I don't believe in divine inspiration (by divine intent), I believe this is the closest thing to it--a profound poetic thought that springs from our 13 billion years in development, gift of self-awareness.
