OK, Otseng has given us the option. Given the confusion in some people's minds about the definition of atheism and agnosticism and the fact that this the A Room is for both groups, I feel it might be better just to have one group called something like non-theists, for those who do not believe in any particular form of theism. What think you all?

Existing groups indicitive of belief are
  • Christian (142)
  • Atheist (68)
  • Agnostic (55)
  • Deist (14)
  • Pagan (11)
  • Jewish (8)
  • Catholic (5)
  • Muslim (5)
It appears as if there are 14 dual members of Atheists and Agnostics.

Well, you can probably guess where I stand on this. I vote for merging them both into "non-theists."

That's fine with me, but I don't think it's going to change anything. As we've seen in other forums, it isn't "confusion in some people's minds", it's a purposeful misrepresentation of atheism and non-theism in general, mostly to make theists feel better about themselves that's the problem. It doesn't matter what you call the group, it won't fix the problem.

I personally like the name "The A-Room", and I also think it's important to distinguish between "there's no god" (atheism), and "I have no clue and there's no clue to be had" (agnosticism). If anything, I'd split atheists into Weak and Strong, just for clarity.

Non-theist denominations?
  1. Atheist
    1. Weak or negative
    2. Strong or positive
  2. Agnostic
    1. Weak or empirical or negative
    2. Strong or positive
    3. agnostic theism

Haha yeah. What we really need is a 2D alignment box, not a linear hierarchy:

Code: Select all

             Strong . The Pope
               |
               | . Harvey1
               |
Atheism -- Agnosticism --- Theism
               |
      .QED |
Bugmaster |
 . Weak

That picture and the group look familiar. If we didn't splinter we could become the "United atheist front of Judea"( the UAFJ). I am open.
I like the graph but it should be 3 or 4 dimensional because I could find any place for me except in the middle leaning towards the left. I did take this test once (I will see if I can find it) but I ended up miles left of ML King and Gandhi. It was authoritarian verses antiauthoritarian and rational verses intuition or something like that.
Maybe Belief net had it. I will look later.
I was an ENFP but now am an INFP.
I don’t think I feel less of a people person I just avoid more then I use to.
Until I get a moat I will just have to endure.
