We've had posters take the perplexing stance that the Bible is both in accordance with science, and unchanging.
There's even been a situation in which one Creationist will state the following (not all at once, of course):
1. The Bible is not a scientific textbook.
2. The Bible does not disagree with science.
3. Science changes all the time.
4. The Bible does not change.
From just a basic glance at the above 4 statements, it would appear there is a contradiction.
Questions for debate:
Do the above 4 statements agree logically with each other? If so, how?
Does science change all the time? Has the Bible been changed at all?

Re: On Change
Post #2In this regard, the statements agreeing with each other, and not necessarily being true, one could liken the Bible to a child's book of ABCs.Neatras wrote: We've had posters take the perplexing stance that the Bible is both in accordance with science, and unchanging.

1. It is not a scientific textbook.
2. It does not disagree with science.
4. It does not change.
None of the three exclude the others. However, as a matter of truthful statements:
1.It is true that the Bible is not a scientific textbook.
2. It is untrue that the Bible does not disagree with science. The Bible says the Sun moves around the Earth. Science disagrees.
3. "Science changes all the time" depends on how one chooses to consider change. It changes all the time in regard to always discovering something new. It doesn't change in regard to the truth it seeks to establish. C = d will always be with us.
4. It is untrue that the Bible does not change. Simply look at all the changes various translations have made to Isaiah 45:7. There are at least ten different interpretations of the Hebrew רַע ra`, ranging from "evil" to "doom" to "hard times." Ya got your pick.
