No Hebrews in Egypt and no Exodus?

Post by polonius »

It is now believed that the first seven book of the Bible were written about 800-700 AD perhaps by Jews living in Babylon.

And archeology has determined that there were no Hebrews in Egypt and hence no Exodus.

How do those of the Jewish faith make an adjustment to these new findings? How do Christians?

Is belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus necessary?

Vatican II
However, "we must acknowledge that the books of Scripture, firmly, faithfully and without error teach that truth which God, for the sake of our salvation, wished to see confided to the Sacred Scriptures."

So, in short, if something is an error, it must not have been revealed by God. Do you see where this can lead?

Let’s take an example. If there are Jews in heaven, then there is no need to believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus as an actual historical fact, since people can be saved without it. Hence it is not necessary for the sake of salvation.

As Paul says, (Rom 2:14) "(W)hen the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:" The same would apply to the Jewish person who is not one of Yeshua' Talmudim. So theoretically, you are correct. However, with the life of Yeshua, the principle is much easier to understand.
