Atonement

Post by DBSmith »

The Atonement of Christ is the most basic teaching of Christianity and is, perhaps, the least understood of all Christian teachings. The LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God, performed the Atonement. He is the first born spirit among many spirit children of our Heavenly Father. The binding power of the Atonement requires nothing from us; no individual spirit child of Heavenly Father will ever owe Him (Justice) or Christ (Mercy) any debt for his or her sins. It is a free gift by the Grace of God (Heavenly Father) to all those who kept their first estate. The merits of Christ fulfill the requirements of Justice for all the sins of all the sons & daughters of Adam & Eve and will heal both the earth and man for everlasting life. Because of Jesus Christ, all those upon the earth will be saved from death and will return to Heaven and live in one of the kingdoms of God. Know, however, that where one will live and how one will live in the Eternities will depend upon the kind of life he or she chooses to live and what they become as a mortal being.

Once upon the earth, each individual must realize and then see the fruits of many laborers, and hearken unto the greatest followers of Christ, as found in the scriptures, …whose invitations have been and will always be to “come unto the LORD, Yahweh, Jehovah, the Messiah, …Jesus, the Christ!

Each one that will come to this earth, let him or her cast aside all selfish desires & all secular wisdom and search the scriptures for all things. And let one not just be a doer of the word, but let each one finish what he or she starts and “be…perfect by completing all efforts and, through prayer and the Spirit, change one’s earthly being into becoming Christ-like & then actually be “even as our Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

Why doesn't everyone read with the Spirit and come to know the things right out of the scriptures and grow together as a human family?

Apparently this is not possible. Clearly everyone who reads these scriptures comes away with totally different ideas. And this clearly includes all those who call themselves "Christians" and who claim to have an understanding of these scriptures.

Just look at the divisiveness between Catholicism and Protestantism. Never mind the extreme disagreements among the multitude of divergent Protestantisms.

Moreover, we can't even stop there. We can't ignore that Judaism and Islam also owe their diverse views of this supposed God to disagreeing views on these very same scriptures.

And then when we look at the bigger picture of humanity as a whole we see a multitude of various religions most of which don't even recognize Jesus or Yahweh as having anything to do with "God" or the imagined "Creator" of our world. The question then becomes one about this supposed "God" himself. If there is truly only one God who was planning on making a big deal out of sending his demigod Son to earth through the virgin birth of a mortal woman, why not arrange to have that story believable to all of humankind? Especially if the purpose was to "save" all of humankind as you appear to have suggested in your OP?

And then there are extremely decent, loving, and caring individuals who care very much about their fellow humans but who see no reason to even believe in any of these ancient God myths. To suggest that these people are somehow evil is clearly false, yet that is precisely what these ancient religions demand. After, is it acceptable in Christianity to totally reject the Abrahamic religions and dismiss the stories of "Christ" as nothing more than superstitious fables?

That would need to be perfectly fine. But Christianity doesn't allow for this to be perfectly fine.

So there is clearly something grossly wrong with this religion and its claims and ideology.

Let's not forget that it contains a lot of directives that most decent people today would be quick to recognize as being clearly immoral. Even Christian clergy, apologists, and theists appear to be in agreement with this as many of them have voiced concerns about many things they find in these ancient scriptures and they often proclaim that this even tests their "faith".

To your credit, you did formulate a question for debate at the end. But the bulk of your OP here sounds more like a sermon.

My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.
