The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

Dan 2:45 like the stone you saw, which, without human hands, separated itself from the mountain and broke to pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold. The great God has revealed to the king what will come about in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is reliable."

Mat 5:3 "How blessed are the poor in spirit! for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Certainly, it will be my pleasure.

Those are excellent scriptures, they fully support the Jehovah's Witness view

- God''s kingdom is a Government

- God's government will destroy all human governments
TripleZ wrote: Where do you think Gods Kingdom actually IS located ?
It is located in heaven.
TripleZ wrote:Mat 5:3 "How blessed are the poor in spirit! for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

- God''s government will rule subsequently rule over the entire planet

- The righteous (deemed as "meek") will live under that rule on this our planet earth

- they will enjoy wonderful living conditions living in peace with the animals, with each other and with their God.

Gods Kingdom is ETERNAL..

Pe 1:11 Thus you will be generously supplied with everything you need to enter the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Deliverer, Yeshua the Messiah.

The kingdom of God, maybe.

But the "kingdom of our Lord and Deliverer, Yeshua the Messiah", while eternity future, is not eternity past.

The Messianic kingdom began when Jesus became its king.

Which of the three above do you think Jesus instructed his follower to pray for when he said "Our Father in the heavens, let your kingdom come"?

This is not a matter of choosing from the words of men.

For Jesus gave us the answer in that prayer.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'

Thank you, but I don't understand how the scripture answers my question. Can you explain what the answer is and how the scripture provides the answer?

You make the choice, as you think one is needed.

I think all three are valid answers.
