Christianity: Socialist or Capitalist

Post by Wootah »

OK so here is my argument for Christianity being capitalist.

Christians believe that we are saved by grace. That we can do nothing to save ourselves from God's wrath and that we entirely rely on God's help as Jesus to rescue us and we call upon that aid for our salvation.

But the key idea here is that we can do nothing.

So which system best fits this model. Socialism implies that we can save ourselves and by interfering in the market we can produce better outcomes and Capitalism implies that the market knows best and we cannot save ourselves.

This to me explains our dislike of capitalism. We all want to be God and want to save ourselves and so we reject Christ and Capitalism.

Actually I think it would be a useful separate exercise to examine just how many things in our life are free gifts from God that we do not deserve but should be grateful for.

Anyone disagree?

Socialism has a history of being Atheistic. The Bible says that you should reap the rewards of your own work because it is implicit that great people by their God's temple and by word of God reap a lot while the heathens are parasites and incapable. Therefore, the Bible recommends that all heathens are to be killed, corrupt by the Devil.

So too, Capitalism may light the way by the most worthy individuals, the so called rich people by white money.

See white money, black money, business conventions and bank codes. The happy bank robber is a lie, a myth because the money or gold from it becomes a "curse", by adverse quantum physics, and the money or gold is almost impossible to use, especially if the origins are from truly religious people, good Christians. :study: :D 8-)
I'm cool! :) - Stronger Religion every day! Also by "mathematical Religion", the eternal forms, God closing the door on corrupt humanity, possibly!

I neither dislike capitalism nor do I want to be God. It only takes one exception to disprove a universal claim. Both of your claims stand disproven.

Sorry, but this OP makes no sense whatsoever. "Free gifts from God' sounds more analogous to living on welfare than on making money in the capitalist system. In the Book of Acts the early Christians held their property in common, and Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead for lying and withholding money from the commune. That doesn't sound capitalist to me.

Try harder to understand it I guess.

People voluntarily redistributing their goods is capitalist.

Two people were struck dead for not going along with the system. Doesn't seem exactly "voluntary" to me.

Anyone disagree?
Is rejecting Christ and Capitalism the same thing? Is this why many conservative Christians are for unregulated capitalism. I don't think I have seen the two things linked together so explicitly. Is the Market God?

Not to me it's not. Actually I am explaining how socialists play God in the marketplace.

I wonder what other systems we meddle with that we should leave alone?

The Capitalist market is not some natural force (or supernatural), it itself is a manmade thing. It is a system that requires property laws, contract law, laws against fraud, trade agreements etc to function.

No that's man trying to control. All it is is two people freely trading.
