An Irish Company,Steorn, (website,http://www.Steorn.com )says,it has developed a way to produce energy that defies Newton's law,but nobody seems to believe or care for their claim.Hence they have challenged 12 Scientists to prove that they are wrong, thus creatng he necessary publicity for the sales/marketing of their prodict/s.
The above link gives a brief explanation.

This,Technology,,if successfully demonstrated, has tremendous ramifications,as regards global warming etc,because:-
1.Pollutants and greenouse gases will be reduced.
2.The requirement of raw materials will be reduced.
The overall effect,on say,Global Warming will be a geometric one.It may,also turn Physics,no,Science itself,upside down.The possibilities are endless.
The people responsible.eventhough, they found this out by serendipity, should equal,Sir Isaac Newton and Late MrAlfred Einstein, in greatness!

Maybe it is because they have heard it before. People claiming to have found the principle of perpetual motion are a dime a dozen. Maybe if Sean McCarthy had some sound theoretical reason why his scheme would work or if he had a working model, then someone might pay attention.

Perhaps scientists have better things to do with their time than disprove crackpots.

Sir Isaac Newton is also considered late. I don't know about Alfred Einstein, did you mean Albert?

Perhaps he meant Alfred Einstein the German-American musicologist and music editor?

This is a pretty elaborate hoax by the looks of things. I think I'll pass on making any investments. To prove to the world that they've got what they say they have would be just so easy given the nature of the claim. All it would require is to make something like an everlasting torch and put it on public display. Either way I don't think it at all ethical to tease the world with claims like this.

I remember hearing something about Nikola Tesla creating some (almost) perpetual, super cheap mode of transmitting electricity, but Westinghouse shot it down because it had no means of producing a profit.

Anyone know anything about this, or am I way off?

I understood Tesla of being a bit of a shifty fellow. He got renowned for "inventing the radio" even doe it was large because of Guglielmo Marconis.

I know Edison hired him for improving the DC generators, and during this time, it could obviously have been that he found a way of doing the above you mention, but got shutdown because it would compete with his own (Edisons) company.
