In Luke's gospel Jesus tells his disciples after his resurrection.....
Luke 24:39(King James Version)
39Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
I think that this verse is quite definite in saying that the risen Jesus was flesh.
But the Scriptures by the Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 15 are quite definite that the risen Jesus is spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:45(King James Version)
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:50(King James Version)
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
So is the resurrected Jesus flesh or spirit?
Or is this just more evidence that the Bible is fiction?
So is the resurrected Jesus flesh or spirit?

That's very puzzling. I believe I was exceedingly clear. If what you say is truly the case, though, for you to not ask for any kind of clarification speaks volumes.
Same to you. Grace and peace to you.

Post #14No. Again, I think I was pretty clear on that. Not really because I am, but because Scripture is. Apparently you think otherwise. I think I know why, but, well, why?JehovahsWitness wrote: Okay my question is

Right, but what does that have to do with what this thread is about?brianbbs67 wrote: 15;45 is an interesting start on the soul. The Hebrew word is Nephesh in the Tanakh. It literally means dirt plus the breath of God. So we are not a creature with a soul, but a living soul. So, we return to dirt and God's breath returns to Him.

You want to know why I believe The Word was once a spirit person?
Well because he existed before anything physical existed. Because there are only two realms, the spirit realm and the physical realm and The Word was in the spiritual realm. And because John informs us
"The Word became flesh*" Since it says he "became" flesh we take it that before that moment he wasn't flesh. It's like if one said "The women became a mother" was she ALWAYS a mother? No before she became a mother she wasn't a mother. So before the Word became flesh.. he wasn't flesh. If he wasn't flesh he was.... spirit.
* We take "flesh" to mean a physical individual with a carbon based flesh and blood body.

Re: So is the resurrected Jesus flesh or spirit?
Post #19Just as I thought. Yes, that's very much incorrect. We don't have to debate that.JehovahsWitness wrote: Since it says he "became" flesh we take it that before that moment he wasn't flesh.
Again, just as I thought. 'Flesh' is used in the Bible in various ways, but most often -- especially in the New Testament, and pretty much exclusively by John in his gospel -- in reference to the nature of mortal man. All the gospel writers use it almost exclusively in this manner, as does Paul, Peter, James... all of them. Most immediate to the context of John 1:14, which is the verse we're talking about, the physical body is not in view.JehovahsWitness wrote: We take "flesh" to mean a physical individual with a carbon based flesh and blood body.
